    About the Author

    Katherine Chauncey, PhD, RD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Texas Tech University School of Medicine. She is actively involved in medical student and resident education. She received her BS from the University of Arkansas and her MS and PhD from Texas Tech University. Dr. Chauncey is a licensed registered dietitian and a certified diabetes educator. She has over 25 years of experience in the field of nutrition.

    Dr. Chauncey maintains a clinical nutrition practice and participates in patient care activities within the School of Medicine. She works with all age groups providing medical nutrition therapy for chronic illness. Her research interests focus on medical student and resident education and clinical nutrition interventions for diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and obesity.

    Dr. Chauncey is a Fellow of the American Dietetic Association and member of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine. She is a frequent speaker to professional and public groups.
