Introduction

How many times have you found yourself thinking about preparing for a test, yet gotten bogged down with other responsibilities, whether it was work or school? Then the test is just around the corner, and you have very little time to study. Its hard to figure out, at that point, where to begin.

About the Test

There are several different versions of the ASVAB. The first is the CAT-ASVAB; most people now take this version of the test. On the CAT-ASVAB, there are ten subtests because, unlike the other versions of the test, Auto Information and Shop Information are broken into two separate subtests. Heres the breakdown of the CAT-ASVAB.

The second version is the MET-Site ASVAB a paper-and-pencil exam Your - photo 5

The second version is the MET-Site ASVAB, a paper-and-pencil exam. Your military recruiter can set you up to take this test at a Military Entrance Test (MET) Site. It takes about three and a half hours and contains nine subtests (combining Auto Information and Shop Information). The advantage of this version of the ASVAB is that you can change your answers by erasing what youve indicated on the answer sheet (on the CAT-ASVAB, once you answer a question, you cant go back and change your answer). Your score is based on the number of correct answers so it pays to guess, even if you dont know the correct answer. Heres the breakdown of the MET-Site ASVAB.
