Parenting For Dummies, UK Edition: summary, description and annotation

We offer to read an annotation, description, summary or preface (depends on what the author of the book "Parenting For Dummies, UK Edition" wrote himself). If you haven't found the necessary information about the book — write in the comments, we will try to find it.

Having a baby is an incredible experience, and the ultimate responsibility! Parenting is a job that you start with no training at all and friends and family always seem to be the first to tell you how best to bring up your children. But theres no sure-fire formula for raising kids. Maybe thats because every child, like every parent, is an individual, and no two parent-child relationships are ever the same. So, you can give up any notions of being a perfect parent. But, you can learn to keep the big mistakes to a minimum and make the parenting experience easier and more rewarding for your children and yourself. Which is where this book comes in.

Covering information for newborns to pre-teens, Parenting For Dummies gives you the essentials of parenting basics. From dealing with a crying baby and potty training, to building self-esteem and dealing with sibling rivalry, it offers a gold mine of up-to-date advice.

Authors Acknowledgments

I would like to thank Alison Yates at John Wiley & Sons, Ltd, for commissioning me to write this book even though shed originally had me in mind for something far less ambitious! Many, many thanks, too, to the whole production team at Wiley, especially Simon Bell (father of two) for his patience and humour, Tracy Barr (mother of four) for her wonderfully wise and witty editing, Kate OLeary (mother of three) for her meticulous subbing and Eileen Hayes (mother of four) for her critical eye and expert advice.

Id like to thank Professor Lyn Quine, author of Solving Childrens Sleep Problems and the estate of the late Dr Louise Bates Ames, author of Raising Good Kids, for permission to adapt charts from their wonderful books.

Thanks also to all the parents Ive admired and learnt so much from whether Ive known you for years or just watched you once with your kids in the park. And to everyone in the Brown family and the Mills family, for encouraging, supporting and goading me on, and even managing to look sympathetic when I whinged. Special mention must go to Ben, Tom, and Ed, for their ever more inventive ways of getting me to open the office door and do something less boring instead.
