We have to trick our bodies into letting go of those last 10 pounds.
T he average woman wants to lose 10 pounds, and with good reason those last pounds hold on tight! If you work out regularly and eat right, or if you dont really take great care of yourself but dont overeat, or even if youve lost a lot of weight already, you probably want to lose about 10 pounds. Our bodies hang on to those last few because we are genetically programmed that way. When our body-fat level drops below a certain point, our bodies cling to every ounce to protect us from starving. In order to get rid of the last 10 pounds, we have to find ways to trick our bodies into dropping fat.
Lucky for us, physique competitors have worked it all out. Every year sometimes two or three times a year these competitors gain weight while building up their muscles, and then they must drop that excess fat in order to show their physiques to full magnificence. With a tough schedule like that, and knowing they will be standing onstage in next-to-nothing in front of judges well, they leave nothing to chance.

Whos Thinking of Losing Weight?
In North America, 67 percent of our population is overweight, and according to the World Health Organization (WHO), obesity has reached epidemic numbers. Apparently millions, if not billions, of us around the world are thinking of losing weight, whether 10 pounds or 110 pounds. Few are exempt from this problem. The population of overweight children is larger than ever, not only in North America, where the number of overweight children has doubled since 1980, but also worldwide, where the WHO estimates that 17.6 million children under the age of five are overweight. In America alone, 200 million individuals are overweight or obese.
People struggle with those last 10 for many reasons.
Stepping away from statistics for a moment, lets consider why you might be interested in shedding those annoying last 10 pounds. Throughout your life will be moments when you want to look your best. You may simply decide on a haircut and a new dress, or you might look in the mirror and realize your waistline needs trimming. Frowning, you look at the calendar and realize you have only 28 days until your wedding day, your sons bar mitzvah or your beach vacation. Ive certainly found myself in a similar situation.
