    Did You Know?

Jack Reacher, the #1 New York Times Bestseller, has returned! The series The New York Times described as utterly addictive continues as acclaimed author Lee Child makes a collaboration with his brother, Andrew Childa fellow extraordinary thriller writer.

    Picture 17

R oaming the country with nothing but a debit card to his name and a toothbrush, Jack Reacher sets foot in a small town nearby Pleasantville, Tennessee to commence the latest offering from Lee Child.

Trying to search for a hot meal, Reacher finds himself walking into a small bar with live music. He settles in with the hopes for coffee and burger, but alas, neither of his orders are available. On the bright side, the live music is not that bad, and as it turns out, after getting stiffed by the owner before a band member finds his guitar smashed by a bouncer in the size of a hulk, the musicians could use his help.

After handling things in the Reacher-way, Jack is now ready to board another bus and leave Pleasantville, which never quite conforms with its welcoming name. Thats the time he meets Rusty Rutherford, an IT manager, who is walking into an ambush that Reacher notices coming a mile away. Thinking that the four-on-one fight is unfair to the IT man, especially given the fact that Rutherford has no idea whats about to take place, Reacher intervenes.

Following a string of bone-crushing events, Rutherford expressed his gratitude to Reacher before telling him that he was recently fired from a cyber-attack that shuts in the towns data, records, and information. Rutherford swears his innocence, telling Reacher he wants to stay, protest, and clear his name. Intrigued, Reacher decides to lend a helping hand, and as the story unravels, Reacher discovers a massive conspiracy lurking in the shadows of the small town. Luckily for Rutherford, thats his specialty, and soon Reacher sets off to unveil town secrets, expose the bad guys, and prevent a threatening cover-up before its too late.

Jack Reacher takes a bus to a small city, gets out, goes searching for a solid cup of coffee, and almost instantly meets some trouble. If you think youve read such a story before, you might want to think again.

Although recent books might have become somewhat customary, Childs latest thriller is the freshest, most original Jack Reacher novel in years. It might be connected to his brother, Andrew Child (real name Andrew Grant), coming on to co-author for the first time. Nevertheless, this entrythe 25th in Childs seriespacks a six-foot-five punch and brings readers on a wild, thoroughly exciting ride.

The book highlights twists and turns, high tech espionage, low tech combats, double agents and fascists getting whats approaching them. As a recent novel, it has a bit of the current world events sprinkled in (or liberally dropped in) to give it that sense of it being contemporary but also more relatable. One of the things readers can appreciate is how Jack isnt just a walking pair of fistshe exhibits his intelligence, no least of all with his love of prime numbers, his working out the angles, and best approaches to all places he finds himself in. He may be useful in a brawl, but hes not careless in how he does it.
