Chapter 1

The In And Outs Of Design Space

D esign space is at the heart of the Cricut experience. Design space was made simple for new craftsmen, but also with enough power for our most experienced makers.

Design experience is cloud-based, so you can design files from anywhere on your computer or mobile device. Start a project on one device and finish without breaking step on another. Yu can even download entire project to use offline on your IOS device when there is no internet access.

When starting a new project, you'll get the canvas where you'll lay out your design. Choose images (pre-designed, cut-ready shapes) from the library, then edit, orient, color, and size these elements until you have a composition you like.

T he cricut library is filled with designs and ideas to kick your masterpiece. Look through thousands of images, fonts, and ready-to-make projects, all available for instant use. Since we always add more, you'll always find something fresh, new and inspiring.

Installing Cricut Design Space

W hen we talk about Cricut Design Space, it is something you can install on your Windows or Mac computer, or on your Android or iOS systems. Make sure you view the minimum system requirements to ensure your device supports the Cricut Design Space software.

The new machine setup process typically installs Design Space on your computer. You can install it manually through the steps below:

1. Open a browser and go to design.cricut.com.
2. When the page is fully loaded, sign in with your Cricut ID, or if you don't have one.
3. Signed in, select New Project tile. Download and install the Design Space plugin will be prompted. Choose Download. Watch the screen change as the plugin file downloads. This will be different with every browser. The example below used Google Chrome.
4. When the file is fully downloaded, select the downloaded file to open or run it in your Downloads folder. If you receive a message asking to allow this app to make device changes, select Yes. You may need to enter your Admin password (not your Cricut password) to continue.
5. The Design Space Setup wizard will appear after moments. Select Continue Next.
6. When the Setup wizard is ready to start installing Cricut Design Space, select Next to start installation.
7. The installation wizard displays installation progress and notifies you when the installation is complete. Select Finish to use Design Space.

Note: Windows Firewall may block some program features and ask permission to allow "Cricut Taskbar Application" to communicate on your network. If you receive this message, select "Allow Access."
