Preface
A recent volume entitled Manuscript Sources of Medieval Medicine: A Book of Essays, ed. Margaret R. Schleissner (New York / London, 1995), contains not a single contribution on Anglo-Norman or continental French. This fortifies my resolve to promote French-language medical texts and to secure for them the sort of long-term familiarity enjoyed by at least some Middle English medical works.
