Lunatics: summary, description and annotation

We offer to read an annotation, description, summary or preface (depends on what the author of the book "Lunatics" wrote himself). If you haven't found the necessary information about the book — write in the comments, we will try to find it.

Philip Horkman is a happy man, the owner of a pet store called The Wine Shop, and on Sundays a referee for a local kids soccer league. Jeffrey Peckerman is the proud and loving father of a star athlete in the girls ten-and-under soccer league, and hes not exactly happy with the ref.
The two of them are about to collide in a swiftly escalating series of events that will send them running for their lives, pursued by the police, soldiers, subversives, bears, revolutionaries, pirates, and a black ops team that does not exist. Where all that takes them you cant even begin to guess, but the literary journey there is a masterpiece of inspiration, chaos, and unadulterated, well, lunacy. And they might even learn a lesson or two along the way.

PRAISE FOR Lunatics Delivers exactly what one would expect from two - photo 1

PRAISE FOR

Lunatics

Delivers exactly what one would expect from two award-winning humorists: an outrageously funny, irreverent, over-the-top comic mystery. How funny is Lunatics? Its the sort of book that inspires snorts, may make you spit out your soda and burst into hysterical laughter in public.

The Miami Herald

A screwball comedy of errors and a rare political satire. Barry and Zweibel bring us what we need: comic relief.

The Boston Globe

The gaggle of guffaws and giggles begins with the prologue and doesnt end until the last page.

Pop Culture Classics

A novel for those who love one-liners, outrageous characters and loopy plots.

Kirkus Reviews

Im a fan and admirer of both writers, and I can tell you that... the book is hilarious.

New York Times Crossword Blog

A s**tload of hilarious fun that requires the presence of food to stay no [less] than twenty feet away. Do you want the book to be spit on? I didnt think so.

The Kentucky Democrat

Creative, unusual and over the top. The outlandish scenarios are certainly entertaining, and as bizarre as their adventures are, theres a strange sense of believability to the story. That helps keep the story fresh and the pages turning.

The Associated Press

Putting Barry and Zweibel in close proximity is sort of like juggling torches while walking a wire over a vat of kerosene; sooner or later, theres gonna be a big, big bang. A rocket-fueled romp whose pages practically turn themselves.

PRAISE FOR DAVE BARRYS

Ill Mature When Im Dead

Despite years of medication, Dave Barry is still the funniest damn writer in the whole country. Lets hope he never grows up.

Carl Hiaasen

Im so pleased to have received an advance copy of Daves book and use most of the material myself. He is truly the funniest man living in the three mile safe zone off the shores of America.

Steve Martin

Dave Barrys best book so far, which is saying a lot. We in the print media are seeing our world collapse around us. There arent enough newspapers left to line the bottom of a canary cage. Magazines are thinner than my hair. And writing is done only on Wii. But heres Dave Barry, flourishing like never before, with a book thats funnier than ever, greeted with clamorous demand by eager hordes of fans. Lets kill him.

P. J. ORourke

Fans know what to expect from Dave Barry: joke-packed prose and one-liners... and Ill Mature When Im Dead continues that tradition.

The Associated Press

PRAISE FOR ALAN ZWEIBEL

Alan Zweibel has earned a place in the pantheon of American pop culture.

TheNew York Times

Should solidify his place among American satirists.

Publishers Weekly on Clothing Optional and Other Ways to Read These Stories

A faultless piece of bibliotherapy for children working through loss.

Kirkus Reviews (starred) on Our Tree Named Steve

Entertaining, funny... winning deadpan humor... [Zweibel] writes with a jaundiced satirical eye.

Los Angeles Times Book Review on The Other Shulman

I knew Gilda. I loved Gilda. I love this book.

Billy Crystal on Bunny Bunny: Gilda RadnerA Sort of Love Story
