This book is dedicated to the thirty-two brave men of Gonzales who rode to the aid of their fellow Texans besieged at the Alamo. Fully aware of their peril, these thirty-two heroes crossed the enemy lines and entered the Alamo on March 1, 1836. For six days they fought beside their comrades until overwhelmed and killed by Santa Anna's army. Their self-sacrifice and valor made them heroes of Texas. Their names, as shown below, appear on the monument in front of the Historical Museum of Gonzales, as well as the Alamo Monument in front of the State's Capitol, and the Alamo.
