Introduction
Golf isn't a sport. It isn't a game. And it most definitely isn't a hobby.
It's a passion for the millions of players who call themselves golfers. Obsessed? Maybe. Possessed? Likely.
Once hooked, golfers find it difficult to go halfway. The search is on for perfection in a passion that will not allow for it. Perfection is for philosophers to debate. Golfers are just trying to get a small white ball into a hole.
Because of the imperfections, golfers must maintain a proper perspective. A bit of humor here and a dig there, well timed between an outburst here and a thrown club there. Golfers come in all ages, all races and both sexes. Rich and poor. Scratch players and hackers. Few activities span as wide a spectrum.
However, all golfers are alike in one way. Each seeks any equipment, swing technique or mental trick that gets the ball into the hole in fewer shots than yesterday's round or the previous hole.
This book is for golfers who are passionate. You are an immediate qualifier. You are, after all, reading this.
This book attempts to give golfers the edgeany edgein becoming better players. There is information about new clubs and other golf equipment. There are swing aids and golf gifts. The golf industry never is at a loss for new items.
There also are some playing tips. Every golfer relishes a good tip, no matter how small or how often it has been heard. That one new tip might be the difference between a double-bogey and a par. Or between a par and a birdie.
And there also are some laughs. Golf jokessome old, some newand quips from some of golf's most interesting personalties.
We hope it all makes for an interesting round of reading and an interesting round the next time you tee it up.

David Leadbetter is considered by many to be the No. 1 golf instructor in the world. His students include Nick Faldo, Nick Price, David Frost, Larry Mize and Brad Faxon. He has a whole product line of instructional aids covering the full swing, short game and putting (as well as a collection of hats).
"The Right Link" is billed as a game improvement tool that automatically places the right arm in the correct position throughout the golf swing. Made of hard plastic, foam padding and a series of Velcro straps, "The Right Link" retails for about $40.
Says Leadbetter: "I believe that the right arm is the most misunderstood element of the golf swing and that the move-away is vital to consistent shot making. 'The Right Link' will give you the proper move-away, set you at the top of the swing, and give you that perfect release position at impact that all golfers want. It will improve your rhythm, plus practicing with 'The Right Link' regularly will automatically improve
