Introduction
The NaughtyMonkey series hopes to teach children and adults alike, thosesimple but very useful Spanish words that many other books forgetto include. When you are over there you need them, you really doneed them! In this book you will learn some basic plumbing wordssuch as water pipes = tuberas , water tap = llave del agua , and some tools that a plumber usesin his daily work.
Thisillustrated storybook has three sections. In the first part, theEnglish and Spanish languages, which use everyday language ofnative speakers, are displayed together in short paragraphs. Thismakes it easy to compare the two languages. The second section isthe story in Spanish only, so that those with an intermediate levelcan test their understanding. The third section is the story inEnglish.

Naughty Monkey Helps Mr. Plumber MonoTravieso ayuda al Sr. Fontanero
Naughty Monkeyloved to climb. He climbed on everything.
A mono travieso leencantaba trepar. Se suba en todas partes.
"Monkey! Stopclimbing on that water pipe," said Mum. "You will break it!"
Mono!, deja detrepar por esa tubera del agua, dijo Mam La vas aromper!
The water pipebent away from the wall.
La tubera se doblseparndose de la pared.
"Ah!" Monkeysaid. "What's happening?"
Oh! dijo Mono.Qu est pasando?
"Get downMonkey!" Mum said angrily.
Bjate Mono! Dijo Mam enfadada.
It was toolate. Crash! The water pipe broke, and water sprayedeverywhere.
Era demasiadotarde. Crash! La tubera del agua se rompi, y el agua salpicabapor todas partes.
Monkey landedin the kitchen sink.
Mono aterriz en elfregadero de la cocina.
"Yuck!Yuck!"
Puag!Puag!
Monkey spatwater out his mouth. He jumped out of the sink and away from thespray of water.
Mono escupa aguapor la boca. Salt fuera del fregadero y lejos del chorro deagua.
Mum opened thecupboard door below the kitchen sink and turned off the water tap.The spray of water stopped, but everything was soaking wet.
Mam abri elarmario debajo del fregadero y cerr la llave del agua. El chorrode agua se detuvo, pero todo estaba empapado.
"Do you knowwhy we have water pipes?" Mum asked Monkey. "Water pipes are notfor climbing!"
Sabes para qutenemos tuberas? pregunt Mam . Las tuberas no son paratrepar!
She picked up atowel and started to dry Monkey.
Cogi una toalla ycomenz a secar a Mono.
"No moreclimbing," Mum told him.
Se acab el trepar Le dijo Mam.
All that dayand all the next day Monkey was sad. Monkey loved to climb. Monkeyhad been able to climb the water pipe and swing on the kitchenbeams. Now he could not reach them. The following day someoneknocked on the house door.
Todo ese da y alda siguiente Mono estuvo triste. A mono le encantaba trepar. Antespoda subir por la tubera del agua y columpiarse en las vigas dela cocina. Ahora no poda alcanzarlas. Al cabo de dos das alguienllam a la puerta de la casa.
"This is Mr.Plumber. He has come to fix the water pipe," Mum told Monkey.
Este es el Sr.Fontanero. Ha venido a arreglar la tubera del agua Le dijo Mam aMono.
"I must goshopping. Can Monkey stay and watch you?" Mum asked Mr.Plumber.
Tengo que ir decompras, Puede quedarse Mono contigo y mirar? pregunt Mam alSr. Fontanero.
"Would you liketo help me?" Mr. Plumber asked Monkey.
Te gustaraayudarme? Pregunt el Sr. Fontanero a Mono.
Mum picked upher shopping bag and left.
Mam cogi su bolsade la compra y se fue.
Mr. Plumberopened his toolbox.
El Sr. Fontaneroabri su caja de herramientas.
"What is thatfor?" Monkey asked, pointing at a spanner.
Para qu sirveeso? Pregunt Mono sealando una llave inglesa.
"It's forloosening things."
Es para aflojarcosas.
"What can Iloosen with it?" Monkey asked, picking up the spanner.
Y qu puedoaflojar con esto? Pregunt Mono mientras coga la llaveinglesa.
"Nothing!" Mr.Plumber laughed. "You will hurt yourself."
Nada! Rio elSr. Fontanero. Te hars dao.
He took thespanner from Monkey and put it back in his box of tools.
Le quit a Mono lallave inglesa y la dej de nuevo en la caja deherramientas.
Monkey sawsomething red.
Mono vio algorojo.
"What is thatfor?" he asked, pointing at a pipe cutter in the toolbox.
Para qu sirveeso? pregunt sealando un cortador de tuberas en la caja deherramientas.
"It's forcutting pipes," said Mr. Plumber.
Es para cortartuberas dijo el Sr. Fontanero.
"Can I cut thispipe?" Monkey asked, picking up the pipe cutter.
Puedo cortaresta tubera? Pregunt Mono cogiendo el cortador.
"No!" Mr.Plumber laughed. "You will get very wet, and I will get intotrouble with your Mum."
No! Rio el Sr.Fontanero Te vas a mojar mucho, y yo tendr problemas con tuMam.
He took thepipe cutter from Monkey and put it back in his box of tools.
Le quit a Mono elcortador de tuberas y lo volvi a poner en su caja deherramientas.
Then he wentoutside to his van and came back with a ladder.
Despus sali fueraa su furgoneta y regres con una escalera.
"Before you canhelp, you must watch," said Mr. Plumber. "Sit still on this chair.You watch. I will fix the water pipe."
Antes de poderayudar, debes mirar dijo el Sr. Fontanero Qudate quieto en estasilla. T mira. Y yo arreglar la tubera del agua.
Monkey did notlike to sit still. He was very bad at staying in one place. Monkeywas thinking what he could do with the ladder.
A mono no legustaba quedarse sentado sin hacer nada. No se le daba nada bienestar en el mismo sitio. Mono estaba pensando en lo que podrahacer con la escalera.
Mr. Plumber wasbusy mending the water pipe. Monkey sat on the chair next to thebox of tools.
El Sr. Fontaneroestaba ocupado arreglando la tubera del agua. Mono estaba sentadoen la silla cerca de la caja de herramientas.
"What's thatwhite roll?" Monkey thought.
Qu es ese rolloblanco? pens Mono.
Monkey put hishand into the box and took out a roll of white plumber'stape.
Mono meti su manoen la caja y sac el rollo de cinta blanca de fontanero.
Mr. Plumberleaned the ladder against the wall where the old pipe had been.Then he started looking for something in his toolbox.
El Sr. Fontaneroapoy la escalera contra la pared donde haba estado la viejatubera. Despus empez a buscar algo en su caja deherramientas.
"Monkey," saidMr. Plumber, "have you seen my white plumber's tape?"
Mono dijo el Sr.Fontanero has visto mi cinta blanca de fontanero?
"Where hasMonkey gone?" Mr. Plumber said, looking at the empty chair.
Dnde ha idoMono? dijo el Sr. Fontanero mirando la silla vaca.
