I NTRODUCTION

As you read this book you will discover truths about the purpose for mankind's existence on earth. Many of the things revealed have never been printed before but they are all based on biblical realities. Around 200 Scripture references are used to help the reader prove to himself that the ideas presented are according to the Bible. Hundreds more could have been given to prove their validity but this is not written to be a theological book. It is written in the form of a novel to make for more exciting and interesting reading.

Jesus Christ did most of His teaching with parables. A parable is a true-to-life story used to reveal a particular reality or truth. It is not mythology or fiction based on nonexistent things. A true parable may use proper names but not be speaking of a particular person or incident, but that type of person does exist and such incidents do take place. Who Am I and Why Am I Here could be called a hypothetical illustration based on true realities of God, angels, earth, Heaven, spirit beings, and mortal mankind.

The main characters' names were chosen for their practicality, not for their significance. There is a priestly prophet in the Bible named Eli. The first three letters of the names of two of the greatest prophets in the Bible are Eli-Elijah and Elisha. Randy is taken to see the prophet because God has enabled His prophets to know the secrets of God. Amos 3:7 declares, "Surely the Lord God does nothing, unless He reveals His secrets to His servants the prophets." What God plans to do on earth is revealed to and through those whom God has gifted with His prophet anointing. More than 90 percent of the books of the Old Testament were written by Prophets.

Prophet Moses wrote the first five books of the Bible. They were written 2,500 years after Adam and Eve left the garden of Eden. How did Moses know the accurate details of the creation of Heaven and earth and mankind? In modern terminology we would probably say that God showed Moses a video playback of the whole thing while he was on Mount Sinai with God for 40 days and nights. However, I think the way it happened is similar to the way our main character in this book was taken back through time and space to a place before time began. He was privileged to see the unfolding history of earth and mankind. He saw the past just as in the New Testament Apostle John was taken into the timeless dimension of Heaven and shown the future of mankind until the end of mortal man and the end of the world as we know it today.

Apostle Paul in the New Testament states that the mysteries of God were made known by divine revelation and the understanding of these mysteries "which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets" (Eph. 3:5). Over half of the books of the New Testament were written by Apostle Paul. His teachings were so new and revolutionary to the religions of his day that he had to receive most of it by revelation and by being taken to that timeless dimension called paradise (see 2 Cor. 12:1-4). He was given understanding of the things he wrote in his epistles and even shown things that he was not allowed to write for man to read. I am explaining these truths so that the reader will see that there is biblical justification for presenting truth in the form used in this book.

In the 1960s I taught at a Christian College for five years. More than 500 students filled out a survey with one of the questions being, "Why did God create the human race?" Interestingly enough, 98 percent of all students gave the same answer-for fellowship or for worship or both. You can ask any Christian why God created mankind and most of them will give that same answer. Those are two reasons why God created mankind, but you will discover in reading this book that there are other reasons that are more major and meaningful to God. For example, you will understand why God planned the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and when He planned to create mankind. Most people understand what mankind received from Christ Jesus' death on the Cross-a way for sinful mankind to be forgiven and reconciled to God. But what did it do for God? What personal desire and purpose did it fulfill for God? When you grasp that reason it should make you understand and greatly appreciate Almighty God for being the God that He is. Some of the other reasons will make God more personal and real. I taught the students in our Ministry Training College these eight reasons God created the human race. I had them choose the one that was the most exciting and relevant to them. It was very interesting to see which one they chose and why it was more exciting and meaningful to them. I would love to know which reason will be the most enlightening, relevant, and exciting to you.
