CHAPTER I
This title is not in the Italian Ms., which begins with Pigafettas dedication to the Grand Master. The title is in a different hand from the dedication below, but apparently in the same ink as NE AGE CITO (anagram of Jean Cognet) at the foot of the page and as Cognets address to Christophe de Gastinois on the recto of the leaf. Cognet may well have added the title, which is however, with variants, present in the other French Mss.
