Weve got purple and yellow, green, blue, and red. While the Cat, Nick, and Sally were trimming their tree, the doorbell rang out and a snail said, Its me. Im here with some mail that I think is for you. Thank you, snail, said the Cat. I believe that is true. Its from Mervin the Crab.

Hes invited us all to come as his guests to the Crab Christmas Ball. Therell be dinner and dancing and a Crab Talent Show. To the Thinga-ma-jigger! Jump in and lets go! When they got to the beach, Mervin said, Hello, Cat! We crabs have to march, so I cant stop to chat. Keep marching, the Cat said, and well march with you! (Crab marching is not all that easy to do.) Then suddenly Mervin called, Stop! Stop the line! We started with ten crabs, but now we have nine. Crab Eightwheres Crab Nine? Crab Eight said, I dont know. Fall out! Mervin yelled. Fall out! Mervin yelled.

Sound an All-Crab Alert! Crab Nine could be lost! Crab Nine could be hurt! Well help! the Cat said. Well find her, I know. In such a short time, where could a crab go? The crabs all took off and they started to race. They searched for Crab Nine all over the place! Where had she gone? There was no way to tell. Then there came a small noise from beneath a big shell. Im Crab Nine, said a crab.

I got stuck in the sand. Hold on! said the Cat. We will give you a hand. I got this shell for Mervin, she said, as a gift. But for me this big shell is too heavy to lift. Well help you! the Cat said.

The Thinga-ma-jigger with a flick of a switch is a Thinga-ma-digger! They picked up the shell and the crab said, Thank you. Before you came, I didnt know what to do! That Thinga-ma-digger sure came in handy. My name is Crab Nine, but my friends call me Sandy. That night, the Crab Christmas Ball was held out on the sand. Music was played by the All Sea Star Band.
