Beautiful Tragedies
P oetry means the world to me. It is through poetry that I express my deepest feelings. It is through poetry that I was first published. I had the best time compiling and editing this anthology.
Beautiful Tragedies is a collection of the most disturbing, haunting, tragic and beautiful poetry Ive ever encountered. Love isnt always rainbows and unicorns. Its gut wrenching, its consuming. Its beautifully tragic. I am so very grateful to James Longmore of HellBound Books for allowing me complete editorial freedom to create this book of poetry collected from some incredibly talented writers. I know I speak for all the participating poets in the book when I say: Bless you for being a publisher with a soul.
To all the poets who contributed to this collection: Thank you so much, and I felt your pain, your horror, your sorrow, your longing. Thank you, Debra B and Denise J. for helping me to spot imperfections when I thought my eyes were bleeding. X

W ords In the history of language How was it decided Which words to string together And in whom they'd be confided? How did we decide Which words to leave unspoken? And when did we decide To describe our hearts as broken? Who said when all was said? Who said when all was done? And to whom can we give thanks For the pleasure of the pun? Synonyms and homonyms Who dreamed up these things? Who gave so much substance To such nonsensical utterings? Who turned these words to stanza Dispersing rhapsody and verse? What brought on vulgarity And who was the first to curse? I ask these questions frequently But I know the answer to just one And I'm sure that you'll agree with me If you've ever had this done If you've ever said, "I love you," And only silence greets your plea Then you know, my friend, that silence Was the first obscenity Footsteps I know you heard me on the stairs I know you heard me call I know you heard me say goodnight But you never looked up, at all And I know you heard the closing door And my footsteps down the hall But you didnt say a word to me And that somehow said it all Spark So now you see the spark I harbored in the darkness And you can tell the world Im hell-bound and Im heartless Did you think that Id be nothing But hurt, hollow and haunted When you turned us into all the things You knew I never wanted When you began to play These complicated games These tangled up entanglements That stain loves sacred name Youre determined to be angry For one reason or another Youre happy when you hate me So rage on, my wayward lover I can offer you no freedom I cant save you from yourself For your mind is your own prison And your heart is your own hell But what would I have given For one last time-lapsed touch Anything, my darling... I wanted you that much
