Nostradamus: Prophecies for America: summary, description and annotation

We offer to read an annotation, description, summary or preface (depends on what the author of the book "Nostradamus: Prophecies for America" wrote himself). If you haven't found the necessary information about the book — write in the comments, we will try to find it.

In the light of the recent tragedy that has changed our world, David Ovason, the foremost expert on the prophecies of Michel Nostradamus, has reexamined the writings of the 16th Century French seer. What Ovason discovered was startling: a quatrain that specifically predicts the horrific terrorist attack on New York City that killed more people in one day than died in Americas three-year War of Independence. In this bold new interpretation of Nostradamuss prescient texts, Ovason reveals with reasoned, intelligent scholarship what the Master presaged for the United States-a nation that did not exist in Nostradamuss time-including the shocking foretelling of a devastating fire to approach a great new city...and the coming of a new age of prosperity for us all. Renowned scholar David Ovason also reveals how Western historys most remarkable clairvoyant predicted the most momentous events in the development of the United States, including: The settlement of Jamestown The Declaration of Independence The founding of St. Louis The development of electricity The invention of manned flight The Apollo space program AND The terrorist attack on America and the destruction of the World Trade Center

Twelve verses, written in the 16th century, relating to the United States of America

It was the beginning of an event that will surely change the world.

At 8:45 A.M., on Tuesday, September 11, 2001, a hijacked Boeing 767, carrying 92 passengers and crew, and with 10,000 gallons of aviation fuel on board, crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center, in Manhattan. The Boeing was traveling at 300 miles per hour.

It was the worst act of terrorism the world has ever seen, and the heavens seemed to reflect its horror. At that moment, the planet Mars was in the same degree as the lunar Dragons Head. Further in space, the planetary destroyer, Pluto, was conjunct (joined or united) with the violent star Rastaban, the yellow eye of the constellation Draconis. The Arabic-speaking hijackers of the Boeing 767 would have called this star Al Rs al Thubn, the Head of the Dragon.

This obscure-seeming astrology almost helps us get our minds around this act of terrorism. So terrible an event (we tell ourselves) could not have been the work of humansit surely must have come at the hands of celestial powers.

The statistics of astrology may seem remote, yet there is a reason why I have referred to it, and I shall explore this later, for there is a relationship between what happens on earth and events in the heavens. For the moment, we might prefer to grasp at the more familiar statisticsthe date and time, the type of airplane, the number of passengers and crew, the quantity of fuel it carried. There is a kind of sanity in these statistics that disappears in the horror of statistics that followed. The enormous fireball, thrown through, and out of the building, was caused by the explosion of the volatile fuel. The force of the impact, which was localized between the 87th and 93rd floors, was sufficient to weaken the entire structure of the tower. The heat from the burning aviation fuel was so great that it melted the steel frame of the building. In the interval, another hijacked airplane, United Airlines flight 175, was crashed into the south tower. This act of terrorism occurred at 9:03 A.M., and the structure collapsed in just under an hour. Within less than two hours from the first impact, the entire north tower also collapsed.

More people were to die, in those two hours of violence, than perished in the Revolutionary War, which had lasted for three years.

In 1555, the prophet Michel Nostradamus had written about the Declaration of Independence, which helped give form to an entire civilization (see page 59). How was it possible that he had not foreseen the more direful events in Manhattan, which threaten the freedoms promised in that Declaration?

I write these words from a small village on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, in England. It is hard to believe that the man-made catastrophe, visited on Manhattan by terrorists during that morning, should have reached its dark shadow as far as this remote English village.

A couple of miles from where I live is a splendid stately home, owned by an acquaintance of mine. Her financier son worked in the commercial section of the World Trade Center, and it is likely that he was in one of the buildings destroyed by the terrorists. Three days have passed since this attack on Manhattan, and still she has had no news of her son. She is one among many suffering thousands, yet, the fact that she is an acquaintance adds a personal poignancy to an event which, I now know, Nostradamus had predicted over four hundred years ago.

The act of terrorism has approached my village in another way. Ever since the destruction of the two towers in New York, my fax, e-mail and phone have been busy. I have been contacted by a number of TV and radio broadcasting agencies, all anxious to hear what Nostradamus had predicted about this terrible event.

On Wednesday of the same week I received a fax from a well-known American broadcaster, who works near New York. He sent me a sample verse, for my opinion. According to this correspondent, this verse had been written by Nostradamus during the 16th century. If it had indeed been written at that time, then it was a most remarkable prophecy. The verse seemed to predict the destruction of New York, as it claimed, in the year of the new century and nine monthsthat is, in September 2001.

I had been interviewed on American radio by this broadcaster earlier in the year, when we had discussed the prophecies of Nostradamus, in general. Now, he was anxious to have my opinion about this particular verse: he wanted to know how Nostradamus had been able to predict this terrorism, over four centuries before it occurred.

Even as I received his fax, and recognized the verse as a forgery, I felt sick. It turned my stomach that, within twenty-four hours of so terrible a tragedy, people should be playing with the event in such a way. It seemed to me that, by forging prophecies of this kind, they were actually demoting the catastrophe itself, as though they were anxious to turn it into a kind of superficial game.

I was not the only one to be troubled with this hoax. From a report about the tragedy in The Sunday Times, it seems that others had been receiving faxes and emails about Nostradamus. The journalist Richard Woods, in an article entitled, When death came out of the blue, recorded two verses that had been circulating in the United States, allegedly from the pen of the Seer.
