CONTENTS

T HE YEAR IS 2025. My name is Dr. Samuel Smith. Im a world renowned doctor who majored in biomedical engineering with a degree from MIT and I graduated at the top of my class. I thought that I had everything figured out. My pay was great. I married my college sweetheart, Karen and I have a beautiful daughter named Samantha. My family was wonderful. A man couldnt ask for anything else but to live this life forever. I began to work for Biomedical Inc. I developed cures for lung cancer, breast cancer, scoliosis, dementia and aids with the common weeds in my backyard.

But now, the world is in a disastrous state.

There have been reports of wars, tornados, earthquakes, food shortages, and murders in every part of the earth. Some say that the world is coming to an end; others say that its the government and then you have a group of people who just dont care. Its very hard to pinpoint the root of the problem when there are so many problems that have disastrous effects. At this moment, I cant tell, but I do know that no one wants to die.

I have cured so many people of every type of infirmary, but they end up in the same place after a short period in time, and thats the grave. So it leads me to ask, what have I, as a biochemical engineer, truly done?

Im sitting here on the floor of my home with my wife in my arms hoping that she can awaken from this permanent sleep. I never thought that my life would become so lifeless. I was trying my best to make it so delightful, not only for me but for everyone in my home. We had the best that money could buy living on 56 E. Bellevue in Chicago, IL. My neighborhood was fantastic. We always knew that there was inequality for every neighborhood; however, we always thought there was equal opportunity.

I drove a Bentley Continental GTC. My wife drove a Porsche Panamera. Our daughter Samantha was nine years old. She attended Decatur Classical Elementary School. We had the best of the best. In the past, I have said some things to my wife that have truly hurt her feelings. However; I think that there is nothing that I can do to turn back the hands of time. I wish that I could just take back all the things that I had said to her. Most people say that sticks and stones can break my bones but words cant hurt me. I used to think the same way until the day I was proven wrong. I will never forget that day; I can remember it like it was yesterday. My daughter Samantha had just gotten home from school. At that time she was in the fourth grade. She would always come down to the basement in the afternoon after school where I would conduct all of my experiments. She would frequently tell me how her day went. I would then tell her how my day went and how the experiments were progressing. Some days she would be upset but other days she would be happy like a normal kid. However, our conversations would be cut short by the sound of Karens voice as she called us up for dinner.

Just as we were about to ascend to the main level we would always notice a small spider web hanging on the lamp. My daughter would always ask me, how does this spider stay alive? I would frequently tell her that it eats the mosquitos and other small insects that fly within the air.

On this one particular day I was trying to figure out a solution to breast cancer. However, I was not able to understand the atomic mass to the combination of chromosomes that I needed to cure the cancer. So I expunged all of my thoughts for that day. I sat back in my chair and I started to think about my wife and the fight we had earlier. I just could not understand why she would want me to take out the trash at such a critical time. Just when I was close to solving the problem there was her voice, Sam, Sam! I need you to take care of the garbage.

At that time we got into a huge argument about all the things that I was supposed to do around the house but did not get a chance to do because of work. Just as I started to get upset once again, I heard the sound of the feet of my favorite child running down the stairs to tell me about her day.

This was the time of the day that I looked forward to, the time to reflect on the ups and downs of the school day and the work day. Samantha started to come down the stairs and just before she reached the bottom stair I noticed that the light would brighten up. At the time, I did not pay much attention to it. I thought that it was just another problem that I had to fix and another argument that I was going to have with my wife.

She would frequently run down the stairs saying, Daddy, Daddy! I have something to tell you. By those words I knew that it was a good day. However, if I were to hear slow steps coming down the stairs as if there was a little Frankenstein in my home I would know that it was a bad day for her. The lights would become dim. However, by the time the conversation was over, if we were able to solve her problem, the lights would brighten as she walked up the stairs.

A T THE SAME time, I took notice of the spider hanging on the lamp. It seemed as if the spiders legs would start to curl up toward its body as if life was being extracted from it. But on good days it seemed as if the spiders legs were open to a free embrace as if it had not seen a long lost relative for years.

This same process would happen continually with the same results every time. I started to notice the recurrences of the same process from day-to-day for months to come. I thought that this was remarkable. I asked myself could this be true? Life gets life from life? So I started to take notice of the spider. I started to think about all the visits by the exterminator. Surely, by now this spider should be dead. However, it was still alive. How was this possible?

There was nothing for the spider to eat. There was nothing flying and there were no creepy crawlers. So how could this spider still be alive? This spider happened to be on the light that sat on the desk where my daughter and I sat for both positive and negative conversations. I then started to pay attention to the reactions of the spider based on the conversations that my daughter and I would have.

It seemed to be true. Life did get life from life. Whenever my daughter would tell me something good then the spiders legs would be open as if it were taking in refreshing air. However, if my daughter would tell me that her day was bad then the spider would curl up as if it were dying. I would then turn to the spider and give it a sigh of relief. The light would then brighten up and the legs of the spider would then start to open. This was an amazing find, but how can this be true? This doesnt seem possible. Could this spread from human to human? From animal to human? From plant to human? Is everything connected by the positive or negative energy that a person or thing emits? Is this how I have been achieving my success? Was it not the school that I attended? Many people think that education is the secret ingredient of success. I think that education is one of the main ingredients but not the major component, and these observations prove this to be true. This was a breathtaking find.
