7 Face Reading in Practice
How and when can I read faces?

The most fascinating thing about the human face is that each one is different. Even though amazing similarities can be detected in different people, no two will ever have exactly identical faces.

Even identical twins do not have exactly the same face. In this special case there are the tiniest of differences, perhaps in the expression of the eyes, in the facial expression, in the texture of the skin, or a hair line which does not follow exactly the same course.

How often do children hear family and friends say, You look exactly like your mother. Or, You are the spitting image of your father. But here looking exactly the same simply means being similar.

The same can be said about character. Nobody has the same character as anybody else. They may in fact have similar features, but their behavior and their reactions will be quite different. In China they say, The packaging is different, because the contents are different. This proverb is totally accurate, simply becauseas we have saidno one is really the same as anyone else.

So, how can faces be interpreted? We know that, if we understand the meaning of the individual facial features, a face can give us a great deal of rather varied information. But this knowledge alone is simply not enough to enable us to see behind the faade. We must learn to be good observers as well, and we must pay attention to details, even if they seem unimportant at first sight. And only when we understand how to combine all these elements, when we have found a way to fit together all the pieces of the puzzle, will we be able to claim that we have mastered the art of reading faces.

It is as difficult to discover the real person behind a face as it is to paint a good portrait. But you have to admit that it also has great appeal. For it promises that we shall be able to expose the tendencies and preferences that people keep disguised or hiddenperhaps without exchanging a single word with them.

Faces can be read anywhere. On the bus, in the restaurant, at the office, on holiday. We should just take care not to disturb or bother others by doing it. Nobody likes to be stared at by a complete stranger!

While reading a face we should not forget that stress, tenseness of any kind and alcohol can give a false impression of a face. The result can easily be misleading.

The simplest thing to do the first time is to use your own face as a test object. Decode your features with the help of this book and then, using the readings you have obtained, try to find a parallel with your character traits (which you yourself probably know best) and your behavior. In this way you will learn, with a little practice, how to combine the interpretations of the individual parts of the face little by little into a homogeneous picture.

When you first start, dont worry if you are not sure if your observations are giving an accurate result. This happens to every new face reader.

What is important for a conscientious reading is that you should always take sufficient time. Make certain you also look at your face from as many different angles as possible (this is best done in front of a mirror) before you start analyzing your own, undoubtedly very interesting, personality.

So that you can check for yourself just how familiar you now are with the secrets of reading faces, some tests have been printed on the following pages. So, why not give it a try?

Character: A woman with many positive features: a sense of justice, the ability to assert herself, practical intelligence, the ability to fit in with others (Metal face, arched hair line). From time to time she is confronted by a wave of disapproval from others close to her because she is thought to be arrogant (protruding mouth, pouting lips). She will certainly enjoy appearing before the public and giving clever performances, but she will if possible avoid moving into the foreground herself (round eyes). She can usually make up for not doing things carefully enough at work and for her dislike of attention to minor details by using her wonderful memory and quick intelligence. In her private life this cool intellectual likes to be with other people; she is sociable and loves to hurl herself into the thick of parties (round eyes, square chin). But it will not be easy for her to enter into a stable relationship because her intellect always triumphs over her feelings. In fact, others will sometimes envy her because she can throw herself into ever new affairs enthusiastically and with a thirst for adventure (square chin), but after numerous failed relationships she will slowly lose her faith in love. It may be that it is her unrequited feelings that are to blame if she complains of stomach pains from time to time.
