Twenty-two schools in the Chicopee, MA, area tied up and sent eight hundred pounds of candy parachutes almost every other day to Gail and his successor, Captain Willy Williams. This source and others made a total of over 21 tons of candy delivered by air, or on the ground, from July 1948 until the end of September 1949.
