ABOUT THE AUTHOR

James A. Crutchfield is a popular western historian and the author of numerous books, including It Happened in Texas, It Happened in Washington , and six other It Happened In titles.

He is the author of forty books dealing with various aspects of American history and has contributed hundreds of articles to newspapers, journals, and national magazines, among them The Magazine Antiques, Early American Life, and The American Cowboy.

Crutchfields writing achievements have been recognized with awards from Western Writers of America, the American Association for State and Local History, and the Tennessee Revolutionary Bicentennial Commission. A former board member of the Tennessee Historical Society, he presently sits on the Board of National Scholars for Presidents Park in Williamsburg, Virginia. He and his wife, Regena, reside in a preCivil War home in Tennessee.
