In memory of my sister, who had passed away at age 42 just before I had immigrated to Australia.
With the knowledge and experience I have gained in the last 23 years, I believe I could have made a difference, and she could still be with us today.
Preface
I BECAME INTERESTED in the health industry over 30 years ago when I was working with children who were suffering from spinal misalignments. I was helping them by providing exercise programs that were both therapeutic and corrective for their condition. I felt an overwhelming sense of compassion towards these children, all of who were victims of circumstances well beyond their control.
Prior to this, I worked as a primary school teacher for six years. To qualify for this position, I underwent three years of college training in early childhood and music education at the University of Warsaw. This was a natural outgrowth from the expertise I developed in Poland while studying for my masters degree at the Warsaw University of Physical Education. My masters degree dissertation titled, Effect of tenotomy and denervation on the early post- exercise glycogen recovery in skeletal muscles of the rat was published in Acta Polonica Physiologica, 1981. As a Ph.D. candidate I had seven publications in medical journals from when I worked as a scientist in the Department of Physiology (Faculty of Medicine) at the Medical Academy of Bialystok, now known as the Medical University of Bialystok.
My original focus on children became an ever-expanding circle of compassion that I wanted to extend to people of all ages and from all walks of life. I became qualified in motor rehabilitation (physiotherapy) while working in the Teaching Hospital of the Medical Academy of Bialystok . I also hold a Bachelor of Health Science in Acupuncture, graduating with honours, and was awarded the certificate of excellence for outstanding performance in acupuncture at the Australian College of Natural Medicine.
I also completed postgraduate clinical practice training at the Australasian Institute of Ayurvedic Studies.
As I continued to study and learn about what contributes most to human health and vitality, I kept discovering that the approaches of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Ayurveda resonated most deeply with me. I believe that this was due to the way those modalities see mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical health as being inseparably interwoven. My compassion towards others is fuelled by what all of us want most in life: to be happy! The more I studied, the more I came to realise that the anti-aging and longevity secrets of the Ancients are the surest path to a happier life for everyone.
