Introduction
Remember when you were a little kid, and it was your birthday? You bounded out of bed, excited by the presents you were going to get, the special breakfast your parents were going to cook you, and all the fun you were going to have! You were motivated and you didnt know it.
And what about that time when you were going on a date, or to a party that you looked forward to. You got home from school or work enthusiastically, changed, showered, brushed your teeth, and headed out the door with a smile on your face. Or maybe you got a new project that excited you: youd go to work early, get straight to the project, and put in your best efforts.
We all know what motivation feels like. Its a high, an energy that makes us enjoy our life, and the things were doing. Motivation fuels us to work harder, to get more done, to achieve more. Highly motivated people are more successful.
Unfortunately, motivation doesnt last for very long. The motivation you feel often disappears within a few days, maybe even a few hours. Weve all had the experience of being highly motivated to become more active and fit: we join a gym, maybe buy workout clothes and an exercise DVD. But then after a few days, we lose the motivation: it just disappears into thin air.
The good news is, that motivation can be created, and called upon at will. It just takes some practice.
There are some who say, why bother with motivation, when it never lasts very long? Yes, its true that motivation doesnt last very long but neither does bathing, or eating. Thats why we do those things every day! Just like bathing, eating, and other essential life activities, motivation needs to be practiced regularly. Try to make it a part of your daily routine to motivate yourself, and youll see your life improving by leaps and bounds.

77 Ways to Get Motivated
Have A Vision Board
The easiest way to motivate yourself is to see what you want. Instead of just imagining things, make it easy to be close to what you want, by seeing exactly what you want.
A vision board has images of things that youd like in your life. For instance, if you want a big, beautiful house, put a photo of your dream house on your vision board. If youd like to own a BMW, put a photo of a BMW (the exact model that youd like to own) on your vision board.
A vision board isnt just for material things, either. You can use it for spiritual goals, health goals, romantic goals, and goals of just about any kind! For instance, if youd like to be more compassionate, maybe youd be inspired by a photo of Mother Teresa, or a photo of someone feeding a homeless man, or a motivating quote. If youd like to attract romance into your life, you could add a photo of a couple on a romantic date to your vision board.
A vision board can be a physical board, with printed photos and art posted on it. Or, you can use software and apps to create a digital vision board. I like to have photos of things that inspire me as my computer background; this way, when I need motivation, all I have to do is glance at my background.
Keep motivating images handy, so that whenever you need a quick dose of motivation, you can look at your vision board. For instance, I like to look at motivating exercise quotes and photos before I exercise this ensures that I exercise harder!
Use Mental Visualizations
In addition to having a physical vision board with actual, crisp images on it, you can have a mental visualization process. Create mental movies of things that youd like to happen.
For instance, if youd like to attract a lot of money into your life, one of your mental movies might be that of you going into the bank and depositing a large check. If youd like to get a promotion, you can imagine yourself having a pleasant chat with your boss.
Athletes and top performers regularly use mental movies to motivate themselves, and to help themselves perform better. Michael Phelps, the Olympic gold medalist, visualizes himself swimming and winning the race, even before he enters the water. Similarly, you can visualize yourself succeeding at your chosen sport whether its playing the violin beautifully, giving an amazing presentation or speech, or negotiating successfully with new clients or suppliers.
