About the Author
An admitted "clothes horse" since the age of tenwhen she and her mother, a seamstress by hobby, paged through pattern books and searched for material to make original outfitsthe author has always been quite comfortable writing about fashion. In addition to contributing to Pioneer Press newspaper's "Fashion" pullout sections since 1988, Lucia Mauro is the fashion editor of Fra Noi, a monthly bilingual newspaper, published in Chicago, that focuses on Italy-related news and features.
Throughout her busy life as a writer, Mauro has performed in ballet and theatrical productions, where she has had direct contact with costume designers and backstage dressers. She has also organized fundraising fashion shows and has modeled for special events and print advertisements.
An avid traveler with an endless sense of curiosity, the authorwho holds a bachelor's degree in English and Communication from Loyola University of Chicagolived in Rome, and has traveled to such renowned fashion centers as Milan, Paris, and New York.
