The case questions, exam tips, and clinical tips throughout each chapter provide simple, concise information that is most relevant to clinical practice and to passing the exam. The tests at the end of the book serve as practice exams and provide suggestions as to where more practice, reading, and knowledge growth are required.

Congratulations on nearing completion of your adult or family nurse practitioner program! This is the beginning of a very exciting and rewarding career. The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) certifies graduates of accredited Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) programs in three categories: Adult, Geriatric, and Family Nurse Practitioner. The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) certifies graduates of accredited Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) programs in three categories: Adult, Geriatric, and Family Nurse Practitioner.

Note that the adult and geriatric categories have now been combined into the designation of adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioner. The AANP is an independent certification organization accredited through the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). The AANP exam consists of 150 questions, 15 of which are experimental practice questions that do not count toward your final grade. You have 3 hours to complete the exam. The passing score for the exam is 66%.
