They Made You a Job Offer!
You Got an Offer!
Well-deserved congratulations! All of your efforts have paid off. Youve completed the interview process, become the preferred solution, and now the company wants to enter into a relationship with you. You will have received either a written or verbal job offer and the delicate dance between you as the job seeker and your potential employer over what you will be paid really begins.
Many job search systems and guidebooks leave this chapter out because talking about money after all the time and effort it took to get your job seems anti-climactic. After all, you wanted a job and now you have one. You should be able to trust the employer to make a fair offer right?
Wrong!
This is the most critical step in establishing your true worth to the company. How you position yourself now, at the beginning of your relationship, will continue throughout your career with this company! You want to receive a package that is fair, reasonable, and reflects your worth to the company. Your employer on the other hand, wants to get you for as low a cost as they reasonably can without insulting you.
