    The guy huffed and puffed as he did another 50m lap on the gym carpet.

    He trudged past me sweating with his legs tiring, ready to hop on the stationary exercise bike at the far end of the room next.

    Cmon, lets go, shouted the young personal trainer in her early 20s; at least half his age.

    I was standing a few yards away completely confused. The guy looked like sensible enough to me, but this scenario seemed bonkers.

    It was January and he was being coached by a personal trainer to get back in shape. Roger that.

    He was getting off his ass and doing something positive, rather than just lying about on the couch. Roger that too.

    Heres where things didnt really make sense
