The afternoon tea is a tea ritual that is typically associated with Britain. Tea drinking is very popular in Britain. Afternoon tea is served around 4 PM. It evolved to fill the gap between lunch and the evening meal, which many wont have before 8 PM, so the tea has become a small meal in itself where scones, sandwiches, biscuits, cakes, and pastries are served with a variety of teas.In England, afternoon tea is also a social event for the upper class. Society women would dress up in long gowns, hats, and gloves for their afternoon tea session. It would often be served in the drawing-room.It was first introduced by the 7th Duchess of Bedford, Anna, in 1840. She used to feel hungry at 4 PM, but the evening meal wont be served before 8. The Duchess asked for tea, served with butter and bread. Soon, she invited her friends. It became widely popular when Queen Victoria started having her own afternoon tea. Her tea receptions would sometimes have more than 200 guests. Often an open at home invitation would be given to come anytime between 4 and 7 for the tea and the accompanying spread. This book will introduce you to some delightful foods you can have with your afternoon tea. I will also show you how to prepare these recipes at home easily.

Part 1: Organizing an Afternoon Tea Party
Enjoying the afternoon tea sitting on a gilded armchair is a popular British tradition. There is something very romantic about this.
An afternoon tea party is a very nice way to entertain guests. Here are some suggestions for organizing the party in style.
The Basic Kit
Do you have a tiered cake stand? If you do, then it could be the centerpiece. If you dont have the stand, then you can just display the best crockery you have. Make it special with folded napkins, name place cards, and lace-like doilies. You can save money by buying Chinaware at charity shops. Dont worry if the patterns dont match.
And of course, you will need teacups, a teapot, cake slicers, and cutlery. Dress up your table by laying a nice tablecloth. You can buy floral, striped, or spotted fabric.
You can also prepare name-place cooking and ice them with the name of the guests. Place them in paper bags so the guests can also take home a little gift.
The Arrival Drink
The milk and sugar should be placed on the table. You should also offer many types of teas, such as Chai, Earl Grey, chamomile, peppermint, herbal, and fruit. Iced tea can be perfect if the weather is warm. You can also serve a juice-based mimosa or sloe gin royale.
The Spread
There are no rules about the food. However, any afternoon tea can include cakes, sandwiches, scones, or teacakes. You can also have biscuits and pastries. You can yourself prepare many of them.
Here are some inspiring ideas that will go very well with your afternoon tea. Try preparing them in your home kitchen.
