Alter your mindset and use the 3-factor think tank

T HINK OBJECTIVELY

When asking yourself questions about what you have done, what you have achieved, what skills you have developed, and so forth, ask yourself these questions in the third person.

In other words, remove first-person pronouns such as I and me from the equation and replace it with your name. For example, what awards did Annie win in the first couple of months of this year?

T HINK LATERALLY

Think in terms of the skills you have developed in employment, in your studies (tertiary or other such as short courses, online or other), in volunteering or community service, in extra-curricular activities (especially any activities that are related to your field, vocation or future direction), in areas that develop certain skills such as public speaking (for example, member of Toastmasters), in sporting activities, and so forth.

T HINK QUALITY

Think in terms of the quality of the written content, not the quantity. Content is king. You can produce a solidly-written rsum packed with substance in two pages which supersedes a rsum that is long, repetitive and filled will clichd, unsubstantiated statements, and four pages in length.
