A cknowledgments
First and foremost, I want to thank my family, my husband Tim, and my children Amy, Rob, and Becky for their unconditional love, devotion, and help throughout the writing of this book. To my mother, who has always been my biggest fan and most honest critic. My parents and my in-laws have taught me a lot about how to deal with aging parents. I hope that I have and will continue to make a difference for all of them. To the girls, who know who they are. The best friends ever! You have always encouraged me to follow my dreams. You have been there for me and continue to offer support and love. You know this has meant reaching well beyond my comfort zone! Thank you so much.
Thanks, too, to the rest of my family and friends who have encouraged me and supported me in this effort in many ways. You all inspire me always. I must acknowledge all of the many home health-care patients and coworkers I have enjoyed knowing over the past thirty years. You have all taught me how to help others learn to cope and survive this process.
To Barbara Doyen, my agent, who has always helped me all along the way even through emergencies and craziness! Thanks to my editors for all of your patience and help with this book. Thanks so very much to all of you!
