E ver since you found out you were pregnant, your mind has probably been racing. Youre happy and excited, but there are suddenly so many questions to consider, new things to learn, and new tasks to tackle. Thats why we love a list. Everything feels infinitely more doable when you get to check off a box. Chapter by chapter, this book transforms the mind-boggling experience of planning for baby into clear, simple steps. We promise it will make the process much less overwhelming!
YOU SHOULD START AT THE BEGINNING ok Even if you are at the three-month mark already, skim the sections from conception onthere are tasks and tips you dont want to miss.
YOU DONT NEED TO CHECK ALL THE BOXES This book should simplify your to-dos, not make you feel like a slacker. In other words, while its nice to have the whole nursery set up by week 30, if you have not picked out the perfect area rug by the time baby arrives, he will still be completely fine.
YOU WILL LEARN HOW TO TALK LIKE A DOCTOR What is a CVS test? An Apgar score? Rotavirus? You will read about all this and more as you plow through our lists. Dont be surprised if by month nine, you start rattling off facts about cord blood banking and meconium (babys first poop) and expect everyone else to know what the heck you are talking about.
YOU CAN KEEP NOTES IN THIS BOOK Sure, its pretty, but go ahead and mark it up anyway. We included a ton of checklists, worksheets, and charts to help you get organized and collect your thoughts. Write your own lists in the marginswe created space for that!

ENJOY! Pregnancy is a time filled with literally hundreds of tasks, but dont forget the fun, indulgent ones. In between tackling to-dos, make time for a prenatal massage, a few date nights, and a prebaby getaway. A wild ride is comingyou need to get some rest. Congrats!

Talk to relatives about family medical history, including birth defects, miscarriages, and genetic disorders. (If there are any concerns, you may want to have genetic counseling and testing before trying to conceive. Your doctor will ask you about this at your first visit.)
Start taking prenatal vitamins. (Yes, you do this before youre pregnant. Thats because the folic acid they contain helps prevent birth defects when taken in early pregnancy and before.)
