I remember when I was eight
years old and how, on every visit to
our local grocery store, I would run off from
my mother to stare longingly at the packages of
beautifully colored markers. They were so expensive
back thenor at least, as a kid, I thought they were
expensive, and they must have seemed expensive to my
mum, too. The most I could do was dream of having them
as we left the grocery store every time without them.
Then, on my ninth birthday, I got the best surprise
ever: a pack of markers in among my birthday gifts.
You can just imagine how ecstatic I was; they were
like gold to me, and no one else was allowed to
touch them. I had officially graduated from
colored pencils, and I wasnt going back!
If only nine-year-old me could see
my marker collection now!
I say me and my markers because my markers and I are tied together;
theyre an extension of me. If I had to choose between my family and my
markers, it would be a pretty tough choice... Im just kidding, of course!
Id choose my family. Then Id go and buy all new markers. Win-win!
In all honesty, though, I would be lost without my marker collection. I use
them in all my color work in some way, whether its for backgrounds, adding
details, full-on coloring, or image creation and patternmaking.
My hope with this book is that youll also be able to use your marker
collection to do more than just color in your coloring booksthat youll be
able to make those markers pay for themselves, so to speak. But keep in
mind that this book is not an end-all be-all guide to markers. This is more
of a guide to the markers I like and the different ways I like to use them. So
if you like the art you see in this book, youll like what I have to teach you!
Just in case you were wondering what my credentials are for teaching
you anything... I have none! Only a lifetime of practice doing what I love
and sticking to it. Oh, and 15 published coloring books (and counting!).
Ive had no professional training in anything, so I hope that makes you feel
even better about you being able to color, too! I dont do things by the
book, and while I realize Im asking you to try doing things by
my
book,
by all means, do it your way!
P.S.: If you want to learn how to draw your own flowers
to color, I can hook you up with that, too! Check out
my other instructional book,
Lets Draw Flowers

Im so happy youve picked me to teach you how to make amazing art with
markers. I have been drawing and coloring for years, and after authoring

a master. With the skills Im going to teach you, you will be able to color
