N owadays, everyone is trying a new diet to improve their lifestyle and increase their health. Everybody knows the importance of different diets in preventing many diseases and losing weight, but few know of their role in increasing performance. Many different diets are available for people to follow; one of them is the keto diet.
The keto diet is a unique form of diet that focuses on lowering carbohydrate intake to a meager 30 to 50 grams. The carbohydrates are replaced by higher fat consumption in the body, which fulfills the energy requirement. It is important to take in an adequate amount of protein, as well. This causes the body to go into ketosis. Ketosis is a state in which the body breakdown fat and releases ketone bodies.
There is a misconception among the populace that people doing intense exercise need excessive carbohydrates to boost their performance. Studies have shown that people following a high-fat diet adapt easily to use fat instead of carbohydrates to fuel their workout routines. There are many other benefits, such as losing weight and long-term higher energy levels. People nowadays are eating excessive carbohydrates that it is stored in the form of glycogen inside a body. Muscle glycogen provides, mainly the muscle, the energy to go through an intense workout. When the person changes the habit and eats more fat than carbohydrates, the body gets used to utilizing fat as a source of energy for muscles in a few days.
