What is Antisocial Personality Disorder?

S ociopaths. Youve heard of them. Whenever people encounter the word they tend to think about psychos featured in horror films, going on a murder spree, playing cat and mouse with the detective, and then getting away with it. Still, the fact that youre reading this book means that you believe that someone around you is a sociopath. It can be someone from work, a new acquaintance, or maybe even someone that you care about. In fact, it has been said that there are two types of sociopaths in this world: those who are very smart and those who arent. They say that the dumb ones end up in jail for breaking the law while the intelligent ones end up as CEOs of colossal companies. Needless to say, the world is teeming with sociopaths. You encounter these types of people more often than you think.

But before you go off labeling your ex, your boss, or your colleague as a sociopath, be sure to find out first what Antisocial Personality Disorder is and what it isnt. Antisocial Personality Disorder is a behavioral disorder which is characterized by a persistent pattern of blatant indifference for, or violation of other peoples rights.
