CHAPTER 1

EASIEST DISH CLOTH

W hen you are planning to knit an item in a day, the dish cloth can be the best choice. These things are small, but we always need them in the household.

How to make the dish cloth:

You will need two different shades of yarn (here a shade of lilac and a shade of cream is used) along with the 4.5 mm straight needles. You can also use the circular needles of the given size if you are comfortable in using them.

Important note:

You will have to switch the colours after every two rows and carry the unused colour up the side as it will ultimately create a nice and attractive edging.

How to make the slip stitch seed pattern:

You will have to start with yarn A (the lilac shade) and cast on 52 stitches.

Row 1: (Right side) Use the colour A, * knit 1, slip 1 purlwise*; repeat from * to end and end with knit 1.

Row 2: (Wrong side) Knit 1, * with yarn in front slip 1 purlwise, with yarn in back knit 1 *; repeat from * to end by ending with knit 1.

Row 3: Here you will change to colour B (the cream shade), knit 1, * slip 1 purlwise, knit 1*; repeat from * to end by ending with knit 1.

Row 4: Knit 1, * with yarn in back knit 1, with yarn in front slip 1 purlwise *; repeat from * to end by ending with knit 1.

You will have to repeat the rows 1 to 4 of the slip stitch seed pattern 25 times or till you get the desired length of the knitted cloth. At the end you will have to repeat rows 1 and 2 once more and end with a knit 1 row.

Bind off all the stitches after this.

For the finishing, you just need to weave in the ends and block if desired.

CHAPTER 2

VIOLET DISH CLOTH

A s mentioned, dish cloth can be knitted in very little time. If you are really a quick knitter, you can finish making one in a few hours. These items are small and you can make use of the left over yarns to create the utility item for your household.

How to make the dish cloth:

You will need a 4 mm straight knitting yarn along with the yarn of your choice colour. The gauge for making this dish cloth is 18 stitches x 24 rows = 4 inches in the lace pattern.
