Foreword

I had the pleasure of meeting Elizabeth TenHouten while hosting my weekly Los Angeles radio show, The Dr. Amron Hour with Kerri Kasem. Elizabeth, a featured guest on the show, discussed the importance of cooking with antioxidant-rich ingredients to maintain healthy, nourished skin from the inside out. As I whole heartedly agree with her message, I decided to check out Cooking Well: Beautiful Skin for myself.

I was delighted to scour through this unique beauty cookbook. In addition to the 75 user-friendly (even I could execute them!) and tasty recipes she features, Elizabeth TenHouten also includes 50 creative antioxidant Beauty Bytessimple, fun tips for achieving beautiful skin. Even with my extremely busy schedule, I experimented with preparing many of the delicious antioxidant-rich recipes in this book. The main ingredients in each dish are, of course, rich in antioxidant and therefore possess high nutritional values. My personal favorite of these is the Rainbow Salad. I highly suggest trying it for yourself!

The most unique aspect of Cooking Well: Beautiful Skin, in my opinion, is Elizabeth TenHoutens underlying message of the importance in discovering ones authentic inner beauty. Even though I am a cosmetic surgeon, I realize that beauty is more than just skin deep and inner beauty can be far more alluring and powerful than outer beauty. In my practice, I do many nonsurgical procedures to rejuvenate the face and combat the effects of aging and the environment. I therefore have a close understanding of the contribution of a proper diet in achieving radiant skin.

I was happy to discover that this beauty cookbook relays this truth and encourages readers to embrace their inner beauty. Our bodies are miraculous organisms and it is so critical that we care for ourselves in body and soul.

Cooking Well: Beautiful Skin has my professional endorsement as I find it to be a complete guide for achieving healthy and beautiful skin through simple diet and lifestyle changes. Elizabeth TenHouten is a creative and eloquent author who has much knowledge to impart to her readers. No household should be without this cutting-edge publication in its kitchen at least no household that places an importance on beautiful skin!
