The gateway to our immune system is the skin. The largest organ in the human body is often ignored in the fight against disease. This shield is the first line of defense against inflammation and infection. Inflammation is the bodys mechanism for self-protection. The goal is to remove toxic substances, including irritants, harmful pathogens and damaged cells. This is the first step in the healing process.
Improved health and a better quality of life can be achieved by addressing the underlying causes of inflammation and infection. Our bodies are aging faster than ever. Increased consumption of processed foods, sedentary lifestyles and overwhelming stress are feeding this process. This is leading to the epidemic growth of type 2 diabetes mellitus, obesity, heart disease and auto-immune conditions.
Now, Dr. Nigma Talib offers us an innovative solution to this problem through her groundbreaking book, Younger Skin Starts in the Gut. She utilizes her vast experience in treating thousands of patients over the past 14 years as a naturopathic doctor and medical aesthetician combined with the latest scientific research to formulate a better way to slow down the aging process.
Younger Skin Starts in the Gut is the easy-to-follow template for fixing your skin and combating the aging process. Dr. Talib builds this foundation to better health by working from the inside out. Remember, skin issues often serve as a warning sign to more significant medical conditions. First, Dr. Talib addresses gut health. She provides a view into the complexity of the digestive system and its trillions of bacteria. Current scientific research is focused on unearthing the gut microbiome and its relation to modern diseases. We already know the importance of these tiny bacteria and their critical role in the overall functioning of the human body. In fact, 70 percent of our immune system resides there.
The process begins through proper nutrition. A poor diet can lead to the spread of inflammation and infection. In the United States, the average adult consumes about 130 pounds of sugar every year. Increased consumption of sugar can lead to the production of advanced glycation end products. These harmful products can have a negative impact on aging and other chronic medical conditions. To protect your immune system, you must limit your consumption of sugar, gluten, cows milk diary and processed foods.
In Younger Skin Starts in the Gut, Dr. Talib helps sort through the confusion and misinformation of what to eat, and explains how its important to choose foods that do something for you instead of something to you. Real foods provide the body with the nutrients needed to maintain proper skin health and function. Combine this with Dr. Talibs beauty prescription, and this program will help change your body on both a cellular and genetic level. This will not only reverse the signs of aging but also create a shield against future damage.
Younger Skin Starts in the Gut is a must read for any individual seeking a better solution to the aging process. How do I know this? I have witnessed the transformation of my patients who have used Dr. Talibs innovative inside-out approach to skin health.

How many times have you pooped today? Once, twice, not at all? Whatever your answer, I bet it wasnt the first question you were expecting to be asked when opening a book about reversing aging. But this is no ordinary beauty book. I dont believe that tackling aging or getting perfect skin is related solely to what you put on the outside of your body. It is also about what you put inside your body, as deep down inside the gut is where real aging begins.
Im Dr. Nigma Talib, naturopathic doctor and medical aesthetician, and Ive been helping patients with their health and beauty issues for over 14 years in my clinics across the globe. During that time Ive treated thousands of patients that all have one thing in common: they now look and feel younger (and healthier) than they would have done if theyd never come to see me. And by the end of this book, Im hoping thats whats going to happen to you too.
My story begins when I started my first practice in Vancouver back in 2001. I am a licensed naturopathic doctor (ND). This means I am qualified to treat the root cause of illness using a variety of safe and effective therapies, including acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, botanical medicine, clinical nutrition, homeopathy, lifestyle counseling and physical medicine. Naturopathic doctors treat a wide variety of chronic health conditions, such as allergies, chronic pain, digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, obesity, chronic fatigue and menopauseto name a few.
Naturopathic doctors are not the same as naturopaths. A licensed naturopathic doctor must have an undergraduate degree in pre-medical studies. We receive over 1,200 hours of clinical training and must treat over 225 patients before we even get our qualification. At a correctly accredited school, the naturopathic medicine curriculum receives significantly more hours in training in nutrition than graduates of some of the best medical schools in the US, if not the world, and a similar training in the biomedical sciences, which covers subjects such as anatomy, cell biology, physiology, neuroscience and biochemistry.
