Mini Party Bites Tips!
Here are some tips to help with any kind of party, from small and casual to large and fancy.
Its in the Planning
Your theme makes the atmospheredecide this based on time of year, who will attend and what the occasion is that you are planning for.
- Create your mini-bites menu with an eye toward types of foods, flavors and textures. Allow for 2 or 3 pieces or bites for each food you choose. Many recipes can be easily doubled or tripled for larger gatherings with just a few simple calculations. If you want to double a muffin or other baked good, make 2 batches as these foods can be tricky to multiply.
- Map out a timeline of what you want to serve, how many guests will attend, where you will serve, etc.
- If you are making several recipes, try to make one or two that you can do ahead. Many chilled items can be made ahead of time and kept in the refrigerator. Also, prepping parts of a recipe ahead of time and storing each ingredient separately makes last-minute assembly faster.
- Its okay to pick up a few things at the deli! Serve purchased olives, pickles and other small foods in individual containers like shot glasses, tiny plates or small bowlsuse your imagination and have fun with the presentation!
Food Choices
- Try to mix hot and cold appetizers, things on a stick, shot-glass foods and finger foodsyou get the idea. Also, unless you are serving a mini-dessert buffet, its nice to mix sweet and savory foods.
- Choose different colored foods and serve them on a variety of decorative plateskeeping your theme in mind.
- Serve a variety of food typesone person may gravitate toward the healthier options, while another looks for heartier bites.
