Introducing Dirty, Lazy Keto
D
IRTY, LAZY KETO IS A BOOK WRITTEN BY WILLIAM AND STEPHANIE Laska. The book tells the story of how Stephanie Laska lost 140 pounds through her own variation of the keto diet.
She learned how to lose almost half her weight by following the keto diet but with modifications that allowed her to be less strict and have more fun with eating. The result is a "dirty and lazy" keto version which helped her stay on her desired weight for five years now.
The book details how Stephanie's unique diet enabled her to lose unwanted extra weight. She writes with humor and uses easy-to-understand explanations to give readers a clear view of her weight loss experience, strategies, and food lists. She reveals that she was a size 26 and weighed almost 300 pounds. Classified as obese III on the BMI scale, she reveals she can't find clothes that have her size. Seatbelts didn't fit her either. Her diets didn't work and were about to give up dieting altogether when she came across the keto diet. Keto sounded promising but she had a hard time sticking to its strict rules. "The traditional ketogenic diet was too constraining and strict for me to follow," she writes. She decided to break the rules and made the diet work for her, which meant she made a keto diet "on my own terms." As a result, she effectively lost weight and was able to maintain her new weight. "By leaving behind the notions of the Atkins Diet Menu or Paleo Diet, I was able to get myself into ketosis and learn how to lose weight in a way that just makes common sense. Judge if you want to, but I'm walking proof of keto diet results!" she writes on her website.
She describes the traditional ketogenic diet as strict, with limitations of having just a maximum of twenty carbs per day.
She says the keto police don't allow the use of artificial sweeteners like Splenda, which makes it impossible to eat fat bombs, have a cold beer, and HALO ice cream if you are in a party. "Constantly trying to "eat perfectly" is tough for a lot of people (me included)," she writes. "In my opinion, there are way too many rules and expectations about eating a high-fat diet, a no sugar diet, high protein diet, NSNG or even intermittent fasting. It's all too confusing and overwhelming."
Her experience proved that she was able to enter ketosis, the "fat burning," stage, without having to follow the rule book strictly.
The book identifies goals that will help the reader follow the modified keto diet. The reader will be able to seek the help of a doctor to set realistic goals that are based on his or her current health status. Readers will also be able to be confident in shopping for the right foods. They will know how to read nutrition labels and count net carbs involved. They will also learn how to prepare meals, snacks, and desserts that are allowed by the keto diet. Foods to be stocked in the fridge and pantry will be identified. The authors also help readers manage a long-term plan for weight loss that promotes health. Things to look out for like self-sabotage and dehydration are discussed and provided with solutions. These tips and many more will lead to a deep understanding of Dirty, Lazy Keto diet's advantages over the traditional keto diet and other kinds of diet.
An Amazon review reveals that the book enabled her to lose weight every day. She used to follow the traditional keto diet but didn't lose any pounds. She tried intermittent fasting along with the diet, but she gained 2.6 pounds. She is thankful that she found Stephanie's book.
Another reader says the book gives her permission to go to regular grocery stores. "I was so discouraged reading other keto books because of the extreme focus on how pure' the food must be. With a husband and five children I simply cannot afford to shop at the boutique markets," she explains. She also likes the book because it is "very easy to understand and fun to read." The book is highly recommended.
Another Amazon reviewer says she wanted to try the keto diet
"but was put off by the thought of eating a lot of fat and having to stick to limits of fat, protein, and carbs." She says the book "takes all of the anxiety and work out if it." She enjoyed reading it and highly recommends it people who are considering the keto diet.
A reader says the book changed her impression of keto dieters who are often rigid and judgmental. Stephanie's keto approach is kinder and gentler. "The author understands that people have different needs and may require some crutches' in some parts of their journey." The reader explains that she tends to feel "deprived and backslide on diets that require food journaling and strict rules. She gives a lot of really good advice to keep on a keto inspired diet but in a way that allows some freedoms and adjustments for the budget, individual tastes and/or dietary needs." She cites the author's great sense of humor and the book readability.
Dirty, Lazy Keto is an Amazon #1 bestseller in the diet, nutrition, and self-help categories.
