"Nei-com-mar-pe-ein, I love you so," Jae whispered in Comanche. She ran her fingers through his hair. She gazed into his eyes. "I wish tonight would last forever. I so fear tomorrow. What if you don't achieve what you have set out to do?" She drew his cheek down against hers.
"What if you don't survive?" she whispered, her voice breaking.
"I have not come this far to be defeated by the likes of Black Crow," Night Hawk whispered back.
"If anything happens to you, I would not want to live, either," she said, trembling inside at the thought of their parting in such a tragic way.
He placed a forefinger against her lips. He gazed into her troubled eyes. "Now is not the time to show doubts about what I have planned for my Comanche people," he said. He ran his hands up and down her spine, then slid them around, filling them with her breasts. "Now is not the time to think of anything but the joy of being together, of making love."

Forever As One Jacqueline Lee Hoist
Our hearts so strong they're bound by Love As if our souls were joined from Above
Oh Great Spirit up in the sky I know our Love will never die
With your strength and guiding light Our Love grew strong within your sight
There's nothing in this world alone That can destroy the Love we hold
The good, the bad, the hurt, the pain Can't change the oneness we became
A man whose skin is unlike mine Has changed my heart forever divine
We love each other with all our heart Forever As One we will never part
Our children will grow within our Love Our children will learn the strengths from Above
We teach them how to love, to share We teach them what it means to care
They will always know that the love we share Will continue to grow because we care
We combine our love, our faith, our hope We combine our beliefs and learn to cope
The words from others can not destroy Our bonds of Love that bring us joy
It does not matter what others might say It will never change our loving ways
Oh Great Spirit from Above We were destined to be, Forever As One

Chapter One
The State of Texas, 1841
"Open the safe," the outlaw sneered as he held his pistol steady on Ralph Hampton. "Do it! Do it now!"
Tall and thin, his hair as black as his thick mustache, Ralph Hampton stood his ground behind the oak desk in the spacious office of his ranch house. He glared at the outlaw's sky-blue eyes as they peered at him over the bandanna tied around his lower face. His hand inched slowly toward the desk drawer, where he kept his pearl-handled pistol.
"Don't try it," the outlaw said, laughing unpleasantly, "or I'll blow your damn hand off. All you need is one hand to open that damn safe!"
