DONATIONS
The Hakluyt Society and the American Friends of the Hakluyt Society gratefully acknowledge donors in 2009. The Society thinks it appropriate that the generosity of donors should be recorded not only in the Annual Report but also in the books which these donations have helped to make possible. Donations and legacies, and, for British members, Gift Aid, are a valuable supplement to the Societys subscription income, which rarely matches the cost of producing our books to the high standard which we seek to maintain. The officers of the Society, and the editors and series editors of its books, receive no remuneration, and are proud to continue the endeavour which Richard Hakluyt himself inspired, and which we have maintained for 163 years the endeavour to record, to understand and to interpret the means by which, for better or worse, the various regions, peoples and cultures of the world have become connected with one another.
