About the Author

Although Pablo has been known as a talented database and software developer since 2005, he started coding very early in his life on a Commodore 64 and on IBM PC compatible computers. He is a critical thinker who focuses on implementation and testing, who loves learning about parallel programming, machine learning, big data and databases, and who loves interconnecting technologies. He regularly writes technical articles about Oracle and SQL Server, providing expert-level insight.

He developed a new user management website that can be used across all systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, Paradox, DB2, MySQL, FreePBX, Asterix, Cisco, Live Communications Server, and Exchange. He integrated an outbound call center website application with a predictive dialer, thus optimizing agent time and easing call placement. He helped a campaign manager manage the customer database, allowing the marketing department to send email campaigns and track their success. He streamlined the processes of quality service and accounting departments, making it easier to digitalize information and reduce work time by 50%. He created an internet-facing website that allows cashing points for articles at partner stores.

He developed a system where five hundred concurrent users got seven thousand letters printed and mailed the next day, and the system works with PDF, images, databases, FTP, web services, and libraries and technologies with parallel routines all coded for maintainability. He led and guided the development team in using the architecture of the existing solutions and helped them deliver several quality projects on time and below budget. He acted as a point of contact when collaborating among different support teams in the division, including incidents, monitoring, release, networking, and operating systems.

He developed an error log monitoring system written in T-SQL and invoked from PowerShell, which indicates if there are issues with any SQL Server registered server. He has tuned several long-running queries in Oracle and SQL Server, achieving an execution time of under one second and reducing resource usage by up to 10%. He developed a large table cleanup script that doesnt lock resources and completes in under one second. He improved the installation, configuration, and optimization process for new instances, reducing the required time from five days to two hours. he created several monitoring processes and user permission scripts that allow one to respond to user requests immediately, as opposed to waiting three business days, which was the norm.

Acknowledgement

First, I want to thank Carlos Robles, who introduced me to the world of database administration, trusted in my abilities and hired me, and has been mentoring me about SQL Server and Oracle. This is where I discovered a whole new world requiring expert-level insight, where I provided my knowledge and have been learning every day since then, something that I enjoy and consider part of my everyday duties.

Second, I want to thank every database administrator I have met over the years, as I have learnt a lot from them at different levels: German Meza, Christian Araujo, Mynor Bolaos, Rene Mansilla, Flavio Gaytan, Marvin Gonzalez, William Morales, and several others Im sure I have missed.

Third, I want to thank every IT professional, developers and non-developers, who selflessly contributes to the community through technical articles, books, forum responses, tweets, and every other possible way; I cant enumerate all of you, but I feel so grateful for having read your work sometime.
