A BOUT THE R URAL E CONOMIC P OLICY P ROGRAM OF T HE A SPEN I NSTITUTE
The Rural Economic Policy Program (REPP) was created in 1985 as a collaborative program of The Aspen Institute, The Ford Foundation, and the Wye Institute. Working closely with The Ford Foundations Rural Poverty and Resources Program, the REPP encourages greater attention to rural policy issues through a program of research grants, seminars, and public education. The Program is focused on rural concerns, including community economic development, resource management, agricultural policy, and enhanced livelihoods for the rural poor. REPP is funded by a grant from The Ford Foundation.
The Rural Economic Policy Program is housed at The Aspen Institute in Washington, D.C. The Aspen Institute is an international nonprofit organization whose broad purpose is to seek consideration of human values in areas of leadership development and public policy formulation. Since its founding in 1949, the Institute has operated a program of Executive Seminars in which leaders of business, government, the arts, education, law and the media convene with distinguished scholars to reinforce the application of traditional humanistic values in their personal and professional deliberations. The Aspen Institutes Policy Programs seek to advance the formulation of public policy.
