Preface
I remember going to the computer lab when I was in the second grade and playing one of my favorite games, SimCity 2000. It was an original idea at the time where someone could plan, budget and build an entire city. SimCity 2000 was made by a man named Will Wright who cofounded Maxis games and created titles such as SimCity, The Sims and SimAnt. I remember thinking, how could one person be responsible for three of the greatest games I had ever played?
One of the things I remember most was that on the SimCity 2000 disc was an interview with Will Wright. In this interview Will stated the best games Ive seen were designed by people designing them for themselves. I wrote this book because it was something I wanted to read, yet, I couldnt find it anywhere.
A challenge America is facing is that many members of older generations have lost the ability to recognize change. They see the same version of America that they grew up with, but the truth is that America has changed significantly in quite a short time. At the same time many people get lost in emotion and have a hard time seeing logic and reason. They often want to blame somebody or something so they can relinquish personal responsibility. This is why this book is written with facts, math, statistics and research sources believed to be credible. Its time that someone reintroduced mathematical reasoning into the world.
This book is broken up into three main sections. Each chapter explores an economic, financial or social issue. Later chapters bring together previous chapters to make arguments and predictions of future events and how they could unfold.
The first section of this book looks at the finances and history of the past several generations. The main focus of this section is how and why newer generations have less purchasing power in comparison to previous generations. I want to give the world an understanding of the challenges that the average young person is now experiencing in America. Chapters in this section talk about how everyday costs and excessive debt are making it harder for young people to save money and how this is affecting their lives. This section explains the new habits that younger people are developing to react to these increased costs and why concepts of inflation are inaccurate. This section also demonstrates how the standard of living previous generations experienced is unsustainable and that newer generations need to work twice as hard to have the same lifestyle as their parents.
The second section of this book looks at the systems that govern America, how these systems have changed over time, and the dependency that Americans have on them. Chapters in this block explain the problems with higher education and minimum wage, and offer possible solutions to improve them. This section explains why the middle class is dwindling and how modern hiring in America by corporations is leading to a larger population of poor people. This section analyzes the shifts in population dynamics and government finances. It explains how previously passed legislation is forcing higher taxes on young people to buy time for the inevitable failing of government programs such as social security, welfare and pensions. This section highlights the risk to our society being caused by mismanagement of our financial and banking systems.
The third section of this book looks at the wealth distribution in America and aims to explain what will happen when the debt and credit bubble bursts. This section analyzes the inevitability of wealth redistribution and looks at how socialism, debt forgiveness, or the introduction of cryptocurrency might be able to solve this problem. This section unveils why the United States and world are set to evolve, and how in only a few short years the dollar will no longer exist in its present form. This section also talks about possible investments that might be a good choice to preserve wealth, even in a time where many people could lose everything. For a long time, Americans and the government have been living beyond their means. There will be repercussions resulting from this carelessness.
I want this book to spark awareness and action, and teach the truths that were ignored in the education system. Many millennials went to college and took on a boatload of debt in the hope that they could have a lifestyle resembling the one experienced by their parents. But instead of graduating and receiving the great jobs they were promised, many millennials are trapped living paycheck to paycheck and are caught in an endless loop to pay for their most basic needs. The purchasing power of newer generations is lower and their quality of life is declining. But when did this happen, and how did we get here? When did we leave the great utopia that our grandparents talked about and enter an age where many millennials are stuck living with their parents into their mid 30s? How can we get back to that utopia? This book reveals how we can interrupt this cycle and break new ground. I also discuss the challenges and sacrifices that need to be made so that once again young people will have the opportunities that made America a place that people dream about.
