Tamara Dragadze had her doctorate in political anthropology from Oxford University in 1987; her main research areas are nationalism and regionalism. She is director of the Centre for Caucasian and Central Asian Studies in London and a collaborator at the Institute of Social Research, Surrey University. She is series editor of Ethnicity and Identity (Berg) and associate editor of Central Asian Survey, and serves as advisor to Parliament, parties and NGOs.
Tuomas Forsberg holds Finnish degrees in political science and international relations and received his Ph.D. in International Relations from the University of Wales at Aberystwyth in 1997. He is a Research Fellow and Acting Director at the Finnish Institute of International Affairs.
Wenche Hauge holds a degree in political science from the University of Oslo and currently has a doctoral scholarship from the Research Council of Norway for work at the International Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) on the project 'Causes and Dynamics of Conflict Escalation: The Role of Environmental Change and Economic Development'.
Anton Ivanov, Ph.D. in anthropology, was a research fellow at the Institute for Ethnology and Anthropology at the Russian Academy of Sciences and became Principal Researcher at the Forum for Early Warning and Early Response (FEWER), London, in 1998. He was coordinator in Russia for UNHCR and guest researcher at the Berghof Research Centre for Conflict Management in Berlin.
Dietrich Jung, Ph.D. in political science (University of Hamburg, 1995) on his thesis Tradition - Modernity - War. A Methodology for Analysing Belligerous Processes in the Context of Globalisation , published works in comparative war studies and Middle Eastern affairs. He was Assistant Professor in International Relations at Bilkent University, Ankara, before becoming Research Fellow at the Copenhagen Peace Research Institute (COPRI) in 1998.
Janie Leatherman has her Ph.D. in international studies from the University of Denver (1991). Visiting Fellow and Visiting Assistant Professor at Notre Dame University before joining the faculty of Illinois State University in 1997. Consultant on conflict prevention and resolution to i.a. the United Nations University and the United States Institute of Peace. Lead author of Pursuing Peace in the Shadow of War: Conflict Prevention in Intrastate Crises (1999).
Marta Martinelli received her MA in International Politics and Security Studies from the University of Bradford in 1997 for a dissertation on Track II Diplomacy, has been admitted as a Ph.D. candidate at the Conflict Resolution Centre there and a guest scholar at COPRI by virtue of the cooperation agreement between the two institutes.
Bjrn Mller has a Ph.D. in International Relations (University of Copenhagen, where he is now external lecturer). Since 1985, he was (Senior) Research Fellow and later Programme Director at COPRI. He is project director of the Global Non-Offensive Defence Network; editor of NOD and Conversion; and Secretary General of the International Peace Research Association (IPRA). He has written and edited several books on (non-offensive, alternative, conventional) defence issues.
Flix Nkundabagenzi holds degrees in law and international relations (University of Louvain, 1986, 1991). Authored several studies and articles on political and social evolution in sub-Saharan Africa and a book on the Rwandan genocide. He worked with the Conflict Prevention Network of the European Commission, is an expert-consultant for the EU and research fellow at GRIP. Founder of COMSOC, a Belgian think tank on Euro-African political relations.
Ralf Rnnquist received his Ph.D. in history from Lund University in 1991 on his thesis in Swedish, History and Nationality: Scottish Ethno-Territoriality in a Historical Perspective. He has published several other works on nationalism in the British Isles and has had research and teaching positions at Swedish universities, at present as Senior Lecturer at the University of Halmstad.
Christian P. Scherrer, Ph.D. (University of Berne, 1985) on a thesis on social and cultural impacts of Tourism in the Third World. After Swiss teaching and research positions, he founded the Ethnic Conflict Research Project (ECOR) based in the Netherlands, whose Director he still is. Senior Research Fellow at COPRI in 1997 (CONF programme). Several books and reports on ethnicity, genocide and ethno-nationalism, covering most major regions of the world.
Klaus Schlichte received his Ph.D. in political science from Hamburg University in 1996. He was chercheur invit at the Maison des Sciences de l'Homme in Paris (1996) and visiting scholar/lecturer at the Henry Jackson School for International Stuides, University of Washington, Seattle (1997/98). He is currently a research associate at the Department of Political Science at Hamburg University, working on statehood in 'Third World' countries.
Helena Lindholm Schulz received her Ph.D. in Peace and Development Research from the University of Gothenburg in 1996 on her thesis, Between Revolution and Statehood: Reconstruction of Palestinian Nationalisms. She is researcher and teacher at the Department of Peace and Development Research, Gothenburg University (PADRIGU).
Tarja Vyrynen received her Ph.D. in International Conflict Analysis from the University of Kent at Canterbury in 1995 and became Docent in 1998. She is now Research Fellow at Tampere Peace Research Institute (TAPRI). She was guest researcher at the George Mason University in 1997.
