RANDALL PRICE, PHD, DISTINGUISHED RESEARCH PROFESSOR OF BIBLICAL AND JUDAIC STUDIES, LIBERTY UNIVERSITY
Lisette Bassett-Brody hits the mark perfectly as she demonstrates how the validity of the Bible has clearly been etched in stone since the beginning of creation. As a Christian, this book will strengthen your faith and give you the treasured knowledge needed to vigorously defend it.
This is a great little book for everyone. Skeptics will find out that the Bible cant be shrugged off so easily. Believers will rejoice as their faith is strengthened. Its simple, straightforward and fascinating. I highly recommend it!

I would like to dedicate this book to my mother, Betty R. Bassett. She always inspired me to strive for more and encouraged me to explore new paths. She was a strong, loving, caring person, and I believe it was because of her faithful prayers that I am a follower of Jesus Christ today.

FOREWORD
There has long been the need for a book that collects many of the biblically relevant archaeological discoveries of the past one hundred years in one volume. These discoveries have been manifold and significant. However, when one goes to search for them, they are spread over a cadre of magazines, Internet sites, newspaper articles, and scholarly publications. What has been sorely missing is a single reference book that compiles all this information.
Furthermore, there has been the need for a book that is unburdened by the kind of minutiae that is of interest only to specialists. In this single volume you will find many of the important archaeological discoveries of the last century, catalogued and indexed so that they are easy to locate. You will also find crisp, clear pictures of these finds, collated from the best sources available.
Etched in Stone: Archaeological Discoveries that Prove the Bible offers a clear, concise summary of the biblical events surrounding each artifact. There are also maps at the back to show where in the world the artifact was discovered. Together, they will lead you to realize that the stories of the Bible are neither fictional nor allegorical. Instead, they are historical and factual events that occurred in real time and in real places.
Lisette Bassett-Brody has spent countless hours familiarizing herself with the archaeological data while never losing sight of the needs of her readers. The authors ultimate goal is to increase her readers confidence in the integrity and veracity of the Bible. As you will see, she has the skill in word and picture to accomplish this goal.
Lisette has heard me say repeatedly the mantra The more they dig out of the ground, the more the Bible proves to be true. In Etched in Stone, she has effectively collated the data that backs up that mantra.
Etched in Stone is a handsome addition to the literature of the Bible and of the land of Israel. It is a valuable book that will be read with profit and pleasure by many.

AUTHORS NOTE
These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever. (JOSHUA 4:7)
The Bible is just a fairy tale. There is no physical evidence to support any of it! This is the kind of fire Christians come under all the time. Where is the physical proof? Isnt there anything out there that corroborates the stories of the Bible? Even Christians ask this question sometimes. Christianity is certainly based on faith, but havent you ever thought of how wonderful it would be to have something tangible? That is what Etched in Stone is all about. This book gives believers something to point to that displays a portion of the physical evidence that God, in His wisdom, chose to leave behind.
Etched in Stone is a unique book because it is the only one of its kind on the market today. This biblical archaeology reference book is for laypersons, everyday people like you and me who have an interest in archaeology but do not want to spend hours researching, reading, and trying to understand all of the theology found in most other books.
You may be wondering how I came up with this idea. Well, my story begins in 1983 as a freshman in college. Being so far from home, I felt lost, alone, and without a sense of purpose. Then one night a classmate told me the story of a carpenter from Nazareth whose death on the cross redeems us from sin. As she spoke, I came under the conviction of the Holy Spirit and began to weep tears of joy. I humbly invited Jesus into my heart, and my life was forever changed.
Slowly but surely the Lord continued to teach me and reveal His plan for my life. As a junior, I spent a year in Spain, where I had the opportunity to read and ponder the entire New Testament, an experience that greatly strengthened my faith. Meanwhile, the Lord used me to share the gospel with many others and lead them to Christ.
After graduating from Syracuse University with a BA in modern foreign languages, I married my best friend, David Philip Brody. We moved to Colorado Springs and started a family. Then, in 1995, I realized I needed to expand my understanding of Gods Word, so I joined the Community Bible Study program (CBS). I attended CBS for eight years and was a core group leader for three of those years. From there I decided I wanted to go back to school, and in 2013 I graduated summa cum laude from Capital Bible Seminary with an MA in biblical studies.
