FOREWORD
Over the past few decades, various efforts to practice Zen by Americans have taken place in this country. Since the time I was sent from Japan to Zenshuji, a Soto Zen temple in Los Angeles, over thirty years have passed. During these years I have gone through different phases of my own practice. But from the very beginning, one of my major concerns has been the transmission of dharma to American practitioners. It is my deep pleasure and satisfaction to see this occurring.
