The OutrageousPromise
This cantpossibly be true
Sincerely, Your Fat-Thinking-Self

Id like to makean outrageous, life-changing promise: Suspend judgment long enoughto learn one crazy mental trick and you can achieve full control ofyour eatingforever.

NOT the painful,grit-your-teeth-and-bear-it control youve experienced whiledieting before, but real control that lasts. Effortless control youfeel secure about 24x7x365, without constant thought. Natural, lifelong control which represents true peace with food. So you canobtain the body you want, the health you deserve, and the sense ofconfidence and esteem which comes from sticking to acommitment.

Plus, once youlearn this mental trick it will not only act to protect you againstthe thoughts which cause you to overeat today, but anything yourfat-thinking-self might dream up tomorrow.

But fair warning:This trick-of-mind is fairly unusual, and you may have a negativereaction when you first hear it. Some people put the book down.Others call me a lunatic.

Thats OK.

Go ahead and writein the margins, send me nasty emails, or whatever you need to do tovoice your objections. My Mom will still love me even if you dont and Ill just take your initial reactions as par for thecourse

Because whatyouve been calling a weight problem or difficulty stickingwith your best thinking about what to eat is in reality asurvival drive gone wrong. This is why all your rational attemptsto keep to your commitments have failed, and why you keep gettingderailed from your best-laid dietary and nutritional plans.

Its also why itseems like no matter how hard you try, you eventually find yourselfeating in ways you swore you never would again. And its why youmay feel demoralized, dejected, and hopeless about eversuccessfully dealing with food.

When you start torein in this survival-drive-run-amuck, its going to fear for itslife. But thankfully, theres ONE insight to which this seeminglyunconquerable drive responds. One which can help you utterlydominate it, giving you full control of your eating from nowon.

So feel free toentertain every critical voice in your head. In fact, becomingaware of your internal objections is an essential part of theprocess. Ive actually set up the book to stimulate them.

All I'm asking isyou give this a chance.

Give it a fullread and promise yourself to withhold judgment. Try it out for awhile, even if it seems nutty or doesnt quite work for you atfirst. If at that point you still think this idea is just not foryou, that's fine. By then, you'll have made a fully informeddecision, which is critical because as youll soon realize this is about a lot more than losing a few pounds. And itsabout more than your health.

This is aboutaccomplishing all your goals and dreams with more confidence andsecurity than you ever thought possible.

Whats at stake iseverything you care about, as it is for everyone whos ever reallystruggled with food. And if youll just pause to breathe for amoment, I know youll nod your head in agreement. At minimum, youll have to acknowledge how important it is to get control ofthis eating thing once and for all.

So please keepyour mind as open as its ever been.

After all what ifI'm right?

Who am I?

Im a formerlyobese guy with very poor cardiovascular genetics

A guy who almostate himself to death despite a dozen warnings from doctors andother health professionals

Who wasted yearsof his life believing he had a mysterious disease which caused himto compulsively overeat

And who used tothink he was powerless to resist bagels, pizza, chocolate, donuts, pasta, potato chips, and pretty much anything else which tastedgood in mass quantities.

My ongoing foodcompulsions and preoccupations did not deter me, however, fromearning a Ph.D. in clinical psychology, nor from building a large, very successful practice, nor even from funding my ownfood-preference research project with 40,000+ people.

And for the last25 years Ive been the CEO of companies which have provided tens ofmillions of dollars in research and consulting services for Fortune500 companies. These firms have included major food manufacturerslike Lipton, Kraft, Nabisco, etc.

Frankly, Im a guywho couldn't stop thinking about food, even while he was workingwith psychotherapy patients and coaching clients

Someone who spentmost of his life feeling desperate to control his food problem. That is, until I discovered a child-like trick of mind which got methinking like a permanently thin person

A weird idea whichgot in my head and grew progressively stronger by itself, no matterhow hard my fat-thinking-self tried to eliminate it!

WARNING:
Your Fat Thinking Alter-Ego Does
NOT Want You to Read This Book!

YourFat-Thinking-Self will say anything to prevent you from readingthis. For example, it may already be saying something likethis:

Youve got to bekidding me! Another diet plan? Theres NO way we could ever dothis. Youre too weak, you never stick with a hard and fast foodrule. Besides, are we really just going to eat like rabbits for therest of our life? Cmon. Just put the book down and lets go haveus a little Bingeing party. Can we? Can we? Huh!!?

So let me promiseyou something up front: This book is about cementing your abilityto stick with the Food Plan of your choice. Its not about gettingyou to follow (or not follow) any particular diet.Absolutely everything about what you eat, when you eat, and whereyou eat will be entirely up to you.

YourFat-Thinking-Self will also object to drawing the clear lines inthe sand required by this technique:

Are you really NEVERgoing to cross the line again? Thats just a set up for feelingguilty when you Binge and you know it. Do you really need moreguilt in your life? Now just go get me some comfort fooditll beyummy! Your Fat Thinking Self

Theseguilt-threats need not frighten or control you. Because in thisbook well apply a very kindhearted, effective way to recover frommistakes without becoming preoccupied with guilt and shame. If youfall down, youll just get up and resume where you left off.Theres NO need to repeatedly smack yourself in the head with aspatula! (Note your Fat-Thinking-Selfs immediate excitement atthe possibility of you falling down.)

That said, sincefear of guilt and failure stops many people before theyve had achance to really try this, lets talk a bit about how well handlemistakes in the Never Binge Again way of thinking. In short, wejust treat ourselves the same way wed treat a child whosgenuinely trying to accomplish something important.
