I want to dedicate this book to all my loving guides, on this plane and in spirit, especially Joachim, Elephelia, and the Emissaries of the Third Ray.

Last January I was invited to teach for a week on a beautiful cruise ship sailing along the western coast of Mexico. One warm evening after a delicious dinner, I decided, before returning to my cabin, that Id go to the upper deck and meditate under the starry sky. Quietly expressing my gratitude for being given such a blessed opportunity to share my gifts, I asked the Universe for guidance and direction about my purpose in lifethat is, the next best step to take in my work and service to others at this time.

Quite clearly, and out of the blue, I was immediately instructed by a group of light beings called the Emissaries of the Third Ray, whose primary spokesperson is a guide who calls himself Joachim, and who have been communicating with me for more than two years now, to channel a book titled Soul Lessons and Soul Purpose. Taken aback by such specific direction and already committed to writing another book, I asked the Emissaries if it was something that could wait... at least until I finished the project I was working on.

Neither agreeing nor disagreeing, they simply restated that I was to channel a book called Soul Lessons and Soul Purpose, in which they would provide direct instruction on how to fulfill our Purpose on Earth. And I was to begin soon.

I shared the news with my publisher, Reid Tracy, the next day, and his response was, If thats what you are guided to do, then lets do it! And so we agreed.

After the cruise ended, I raced home to finish the project Id been working on, although it took me several more months to complete, all the while ever mindful of my guides waiting patiently on the sidelines for me to complete the task and begin this new assignment.

The fact that I was unable to begin writing immediately didnt deter the Emissaries at all. They ignored what I was doing and began downloading more information to me regarding what I was to write. They showed me exactly how they wanted the book organized. It was to be laid out in a very clear format of 22 lessons, which they said Id understand. Intuitively, this number did make sense to me. For one thing, a great deal of my past esoteric training and metaphysical education was based on numerology, which is the study of the mathematical order of the Universe. In this system, 22 is a sacred number that reflects how the physical world is manifested. And in my studies of western Kabbalah, this number is considered the foundation of all things.

I also know from my personal studies over the pastyes, 22 yearsthat the first 22 numbers symbolize the cosmic principles behind all manifestation. In addition to the spiritual importance of the first 22 numbers, the Hebrew alphabet is composed of 22 letters, each corresponding to a number that represents certain spiritual laws.

There are also 22 archetypes found in the Major Arcana of the Tarot deck, a large and significant part of my education and background. In every one of my spiritual traditions, 22 is an important and even sacred number, so being guided to lay this book out in 22 simple lessons made perfect sense to me.
