About the Author

Stephen A. Werner , Ph.D., has over thirty years of experience teaching as a college adjunct in the St. Louis area. He has taught courses on human civilization, mythology, religion, and popular culture: including courses on Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, and Route 66. Dr. Werner does not think in terms of separate academic disciplines; rather, he sees them as all connected. History is more than kings, wars, and generals; it includes art, literature, religious beliefs, and the culture of ordinary people.

Dr. Werner is the author of The Handy Christianity Answer Book , which was also published by Visible Ink Press, and How to Study Religion: A Guide for the Curious (Cognella Academic Publishers). His other books include Life Hurts: An Exploration of the Pain and Suffering of Life and the satirical work Elvis and Apocalypse , both published by Press, Press, PullSt. Louis.

As a teacher and writer, Werner lives by the concept that real learning is an exciting adventure. If it is not exciting, then one needs to hunt around for more interesting topics or better ways to learn. Most children want to learn. If an adult has lost that eagerness, then it needs to be found and can be found.
