Introduction
Hello, and thank you so much for selecting the book Yoga for Beginners: Nidra and Sutras Pantajaly Guide, Spirituality, and Meditation Philosophy. Relieve Stress and Anxiety, Increase Body Flexibility, Spirit, and Mind's Health with Easy Poses for Mindfulness! Yoga is something that has not been a huge part of my life entirely, though I have been exposed to the practice of yoga through participating in a theater program within my hometown, which integrated yoga centric exercises along with supplementary activities that focused on acting. While yoga is something that has not been on my radar for a long time, the research I have gathered on this topic has inspired me to give it a try once more possibly.
I'm sure that through the many conversations that you might have had with your loved ones, the subject of yoga was brought up, and perhaps one of your loved ones went into detail about how much he or she enjoyed the experience as a whole. That being said, sometimes when people are so excited to share an experience that they have really come to enjoy, sometimes the authenticity of the experience runs slightly askew as many people who are surrounded by people that they inherently care about find themselves embellishing the facts a bit in order to keep their audience engaged. I'm not saying that this happens every time, but it is important to know that there are a lot of people who take yoga and say that they enjoy it, but they do not have a true comprehension of what yoga truly entails. It's okay if you do not have a full grasp of what yoga is because the whole point of the book is to provide you with an enriched understanding for those who are in the beginning stage of practicing yoga or who wish to practice yoga at some point in the near future. I hope that you find this book fascinating as well as informative and that you'll enjoy learning more about yoga for beginners!
Chapter 1: Yoga in a Nutshell
The word yoga alone means several different things to different kinds of people. To some, it is a set of exercises that are meant to train your mind to focus on one thing at a time; while to others, it is simply sitting in solitude and meditating by verbally chanting a variety of words and sentences that are not part of the English language but nonetheless, are quite comforting all the while. I'm sure that for many of you, when people refer to the word yoga. It still feels as though it is being painted through a heavy broad stroke of generalizations, and you yet can't quite articulate what exactly yoga is and why people enjoy practicing yoga so much, to begin with. There is no need to fret, for this next section shall cover the logistics of yoga and the many health benefits that are associated with it and have been proven to help people acquire a healthier quality of life.
At this point, you might be curious as to how old yoga is and which country it originated from and how it has been able to swiftly become such a common and popular practice, to begin with. Yoga was first conceived approximately five thousand years in the past within the vast Asian subcontinent known as India. It is not linked to any particular kind of world religion as yoga has acquired a mass following of practitioners from many faiths that include the likes of Jainism, Hinduism, along with Buddhism as well as other faiths that trace their origins and development to other parts of the globe and it is even something that an atheist can practice too. Yoga formulates a standard set of patterns that are grounded within a sense of spirituality and is a word that is derived from the language known as Sanskrit and holds the literal meaning in English linguistic terminology of "union."
There are multiple ways in which the effectiveness of yoga can be internalized; however, the core principles lie in the belief that by abiding by the practices that are associated with yoga, this will enable the practitioner to uncover the authenticity that is connected to who he or she really is as a person. Furthermore, one who chooses to abide by this belief shall bring him or her closer to developing a bond with the greater forces that are linked to the abstract notions of the universe or to a spiritual deity that is worshipped in several different kinds of established religions such as God. In addition, there is also a large set of yoga variants that offer their own perspective on how a person can attain a harmonious association with either the invisible forces of the universe or to God or another spiritual figure. For instance, one prolific writer on the virtues that are tied to the notion of yoga known as Patanjali offered his own take on what constitutes the defining factors of yoga, which he elaborates on in his literary work, which is known as Yoga Sutra . In this literary work, Patanjali describes the mind and how it is bound by the series of internal speech patterns that ultimately lead a person to succumb to various form of internal anguish and that by practicing yoga in some form, a person is able to keep these internal voices at bay and place the mind into a state of overall tranquility. The purpose of focus within the bounds of yoga is meant to serve as the ability to attain an overall sense of calmness that can be located within the bounds of a persons greater interior, as well as enable him or her to hone their capabilities that are tied to their creative streaks and develop an enriched comprehension of the realities concerning the tendencies linked to what constitutes as organic components of humanity.
